I worked at a place years ago that had elevators like that. It all had to do with the heat of your fingers. It was pretty cool except when it was cold outside. You then had to get someone that had been inside for a while that had warm hands or I saw people do the buttons with their tongue. Yuck....

I have yet to have a check it wouldn't recognize and accept. On an occasion or two it has had a hard time reading the amount, but it allowed me to key it in.

and you're right, it's a lot faster and a lot more convenient. don't have to fill out a deposit slip etc. significant improvement and a pretty cool use of technology.
