Ok, that one hit me. When I moved to LA from San Fran to 'follow the dream', Brittany was a top girl in the box office. She had just broke up w/ Ashton and made that funny crack about on Letterman about how Ashton and Demi made a great couple because to Ashton age didn't matter and to Demi, size didn't matter:winkiss

But the thing about Brittany, in her earlier films (Clueless, Freeway), she was the nerdy girl w/ the uncontrollable hair, bushy eyebrows and a funny looking smile that guys overlooked because Alicia Silvertone and Reese Witherspoon were cookike-cutter cuter. I WAS those characters that Brittany used to play for the longest time. I totally related to her, after some dude had been insulting my looks.

She was talented. She worked as a successful voiceover actress for a long time before becoming a star. Such a talented, attractive young woman. Probably knocking herself out to stay relevant.

RIP

Brittany Murphy's Husband Doesn't Want Autopsy

Posted Dec 20th 2009 5:47PM by TMZ Staff

Brittany Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, told hospital staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center he did not want an autopsy performed on his deceased wife, multiple sources tell TMZ.

We're told, however, despite Monjack's wishes, the L.A. County Coroner's office will perform an autopsy on Murphy. As we first reported, Murphy went into cardiac arrest this morning and could not be revived.

TMZ has also learned Brittany Murphy's mother, who found Murphy unconscious in the shower and called 911, told paramedics her daughter had a history of diabetes. We have not been able to confirm if Murphy did indeed have diabetes, and if so, whether it contributed to her death.

Tell me about Spread, I heard it was okay. The Butterfly Effect seems like the kind of film best experienced when on an acid trip or something...I remember only seeing it because it had that one Oasis song at the end.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Skit About Brittany Murphy Disappears From Web Sites
By DAVE ITZKOFF

Abby Elliott parodies Brittany Murphy on “Saturday Night Live.”
A “Saturday Night Live” sketch that satirized the actress Brittany Murphy has been pulled from Internet sites like hulu.com, provoking disagreements among viewers about whether the video should be allowed to remain on the Web, and whether “SNL” should have performed the skit at all.

In a segment that appeared on the Dec. 5 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” Seth Meyers, the show’s Weekend Update anchor and head writer, noted reports that Ms. Murphy had recently been fired from a film project called “The Collar.” He was soon joined at the Weekend Update desk by his castmate Abby Elliott, who was impersonating Ms. Murphy. The fictional Ms. Murphy seemed to be disoriented and still under the impression she was on an episode that the real-life actress had hosted in 2002. (“You are not the host,” Mr. Meyers told Ms. Elliott throughout the skit.)

Though video of that sketch was posted to hulu.com soon after the show was broadcast, after Ms. Murphy’s death on Sunday, it disappeared from the site. A message on hulu.com reads, “Unfortunately this video is no longer available, but here are other related videos to watch.” (Bootlegs of the skit have turned up on other blogs.) A news-media representative for “Saturday Night Live” declined to comment.

As news of Ms. Murphy’s death surfaced on Sunday, many bloggers noted that what seemed like a curiously timed sketch two weeks ago — when Ms. Murphy was not much in the public eye and had not had a new movie to promote in many months — seemed to be in especially poor taste given her sudden demise and the uncertain circumstances surrounding it. (The Los Angeles County coroner has said that an official cause of Ms. Murphy’s death might not be determined for some time.)

As Michael Roston wrote at TrueSlant.com: “This is looking sort of extra-unkind. As a condolence gift to Murphy’s family, perhaps S.N.L. and Hulu ought to pull this clip down.”

That request soon came to pass, but some observers wondered if NBC was fueling the fire by taking the segment out of circulation. At his blog EdRants.com, Edward Champion offered a detailed summary of the original skit, writing that NBC should be “taken to task for failing to preserve this sketch on Hulu, which will surely increase interest in the base material.” He added, “The idea that NBC is above making a mistake (uh, Jay Leno?), and the failure of NBC to issue a public apology while presenting the sketch or the episode in its original form, demonstrates that it is not interested in preserving history, much less letting the people determine whether the sketch is funny.”

In a post at MovieCityNews, Ray Pride grappled with the competing impulses of “S.N.L.” (which had already made fun of Ms. Murphy under perilous circumstances) and hulu.com (which presumably pulled the skit out of respect for the actress and to avoid further controversy). He wrote: “So why was the meager bit funny on Dec. 5 and unfunny today? What’s there to be embarrassed about?” Noting another blogger who also called for the skit to be preserved online, he wrote that he couldn’t “parse the logic of that,” adding: “corporate logic seems more tender, at least in Hulu’s case; in Saturday Night Live’s? Who’s the kinder corporate human?”

What do you think? Was “Saturday Night Live” wrong to satirize Brittany Murphy? Did sites like hulu.com compound the mistake by pulling video of the skit? Post a comment below and let us know.

Hmm, while I'm sure the skit was funny then, maybe now isn't exactly a time to laugh about Ms. Murphy. My first reaction is being suprised that the media or these sites are actually showing some compassion for the family and respect for the individual lost at such a young age.

RIP Brittany. this whole thing is sad and a bit sketchy. Yeah she always seemed a bit kooky, but also happy, for me that was her whole charm. I really hope this was a natural causes thing, but it doesn't seem likely. Though if the diabetes thing is true, it seems more believable. A son of one of my coworkers died at a very young age (23) due to complications from diabetes, but he had a very advanced case that pretty much left him ill and incapacited for the majority of his life. Other than the weight issues, she seemed fairly healthy. Either way, sad.

Drugs in Hollywood is certainly not a new thing, so why have so many celebrities fucked up so badly lately? What has changed?

I would imagine it's not the coke, heroine, speedball drugs that are doing the damage. It's all of the Prescription drugs that people are taking and mixing that do all of the damage nowadays

I've always liked that song and had no clue she was the chick singing it. Just makes the loss of her potential even sadder, doesn't it?

THAT, and the potency & availability of the other drugs have increased over the years.. but mostly it's the pills, particularly the mixing of them..

Given that the tabloids have loved the fact that not only was she chemically addicted, but sexually addicted as well, makes our loss even greater.

In other news, I was just reminded by all this sadness, that she was fucking hot. She married that douchebag? Fuck, I need to move to LA and bone a nearly washed up starlet, I'm way hotter than that asswipe.

If you were "way hotter" you would have some equal to or better looking than her. So what does this say about you now?

Dammit, MJA! (Or, would you prefer Mini-Monk?) I just got back from shopping with every other idiot shopping right now, anmd finally sat with my tequila shot to help shake it off. Now I have to get up, wipe up, repour and start all over thanks to you!:rotfl

In other news, I am going to hell.
But, the good news is, you won't be alone! MJA will be right by your side!

That second picture is kind of creepy.
You don't suppose she asked for the boob job and they fucked up, do you?
