that sweatshirt graphic doesn't make any sense to me. well actually it makes perfect sense, I just don't see anything wrong with it or why it could be used as justification for boycotting Nike since similiar economics likely prevail for their competitors as well.

randy: you can by Nikes just about anywhere. you don't have to go to a specialty shop. You can go to Target or Walmart of Kmart or any department store. If you want to go to an actual Nike store, you might google it. if you know how.

Nike does sucks

It certainly does. I'm from Oregon, and a lot of people I know are employed by the U of O. Phil Knight used to donate a lot of money to the university. At one point, the U of O wanted to join the worker's rights consortium and Phil Knight rescinded a donation he had already promised. He's a scumbag.

There's a Nike, Adidas, and Puma shop all within a couple blocks of union square.

There are a couple small boutique shops in the mission and hayes valley areas, and the few in the upper haight have improved, but I still doubt you're going to find what you want in a shop any easier than on the internet.

We don't call them trainers. Haven't you heard? I thought you knew Americans don't train. Besides ,it's hypocritical to spend $100 on a pair of shoes casual shoes that you're afraid to get dirty and call them "trainers".

randy ricochet
02-20-2007, 09:13 AM
My word, aren't we all being very helpful today!!
I know they are called sneakers over there but lets face it, if you don't train, you're not going to be the best at sneaking either!!
I know what you are saying about the cost but i have a couple of pairs anyway and the ones I really want are the Reebok (bring back the pump) which we can't get over here. If I get them from the internet, Americans charge $35 bloody postage per pair.

Brits charge just as much for postage. I know because I just had to order a pair from there because you creeps are hoarding the size I needed.

I haven't seen any reebok pumps around for years. Anyways you're not going to find bulky shoes like that in any of the trendy boutique shops anyway. You'll be better off sticking to the Nike (Stockton & Geary) and Adidas (Market & Powell) shops. I don't know of any Reebok shops.

randy ricochet
02-20-2007, 09:25 AM

A few pairs of Reebok pump are going on ebay but for like $250 or so, however I heard they re-released a range called 'bring back the pump'. There is a website called pickyourshoes.com but it looks a bit dodgy!
Will try those other shops though, cheers.

I think the whole thing about college schools being paid and sponsored by shoe/clothing companies (Nike for UofO for example) is sick. I mean really...the schools and coaches get all this money for signing these contracts to exclusively use certain shoes and brands, yet the athletes get nothing. At least give em like a $1,000 a month to live off of or something, so there is no incentive to take money under the table and all that. I just don't really get why they wont do that.

Of course the argument can be made they're getting free education, which is true of course, but I don't think that justifies them being used by the schools and coaches for all this contract money, and they get to see none of it. Doesn't make sense.

Nike sucks. NCAA sucks. College sucks. U of O uniforms suck.

Hannahrain
02-20-2007, 11:12 AM
a huge part of it too is that the money nike donated was to be used for sports. the university has great sports facilities but could really use the money elsewhere. but because that's what phil knight cared about, that's where the money went.

02-20-2007, 02:25 PM
Randy, I'll be helpful (just this once). If you are truly interested in finding some Reebok pumps you can take one of two approaches.
1) Track down, stalk, and rob a former basketball player named Dee Brown. He'll have a closet full.
2) Get a Delorian and a flux capacitor (remember, it's 1.21 Gigawatts), some plutonium, a squeaky voice and a gay vest (you probably have some of this stuff already--squeaky voice and gay vest, most likely)... Next, you'll want to take that fine piece of auto-machinery over to a mall parking lot and hit the upper 80's in MPH (not sure what the kPh would be) and travel back to 1991 or so. You'll find reebok pumps all over the place.
