Car camping spots are 10x30. Your car and as many people or tents you can cram into that spot (as long as its not against the rules) is fine with us.

I'm going double decker somehow.

New for 2010
10x30 Camping Spot $55 (this time we are selling spots, not per person and cars will be allowed to park within the purchased spot. Please see detailed information about car and tent camping below.)
RV Camp spot $250 (every RV in RV camping area needs and RV pass)

THANK YOU PHISH ! You showed GV the way!

Wait... uh oh... what is PAW (and all the other groups) gonna do?

ABOUT TENT ONLY CAMPING

NO SAVING SPOTS - Arrive together to camp together. NEW FOR 2010: 10x30 tent spots are what is being sold. Each CAMP SPOT is HUGE - a 10x30 (300 square feet!!) spot on a beautiful serene grassy area offering quiet private surroundings separate from Car and RV camping areas. All camping amenities included. You can visit any of the other RV or Car Camping areas too. You can cram as many people into your tent as will fit. Each camper must have a festival ticket. Want more space? Buy another spot. If you are driving a car to the event and camping overnight you must purchase a spot and camp in the car camping area. All cars staying overnight during the festival must be in a car camping spot.

The way I understand it is if you have your car at the festival at all overnight then you do have to have a car camping pass. Which means you can't camp in the regular grassy camp area if you have a car with you. I'm assuming the car area is on the dirt, which would kinda suck but not a big deal.

I am going to word it this way. You will buy your car camping pass for $55 plus fees. You arrive to the coachella camp site and are directed towards your spot, you will get your wristband for camping and you wil get a placard of some sort for your car that designates it as a car camping vehicle. End of story.

Well one thing Jason is that you can have as many people as you like in your spot. And no saving spots will be an issue unless you just meet up somewhere in Indio and then drive all together. I just talked to Big chris and he sounds like he is going to rent an RV.

Well here's why I said that:

spot on a beautiful serene grassy area offering quiet private surroundings separate from Car and RV camping areas.

That quote is in reference to tent camping. If they mention the "beautiful serene grassy area" for tent-only camping but not for car and RV, I draw the conclusion that the cars aren't in the grassy area. Plus, there's not that much grass in the camping area. And they won't be using the dirt parking lots by the campground (it will be illegal) so I am thinking that's the car campground.

Conversely, it becomes easier to bring more stuff with you to your campsite. Pros & cons.

To be honest, ins & outs are sort of worthless at a festival like Coachella because spare extreme circumstances, I'll have little reason to use the privilege. But as a contact wearer it is a nice backup plan.

Now we just need cloth bracelets for three day passes and we'll be sitting pretty.

I noticed in and outs is for all ticketholders, not just campers, so anyone staying in a hotel will be able to leave and go to town. But campers will either have to hitchhike, taxi, bike, walk or make do with the onsite amenities.

I still think car camping would be way easier.

that is retarded. and it even says you can go to all the different camping sections, which includes the far one, and you would have to leave the fenced areas to do so.. there is ins & outs for campers, they've done this at Stagecoach for years.. they've also done camping by cars/rv's for years.. they know what they're doing..

that is retarded. and it even says you can go to all the different camping sections, which includes the far one, and you would have to leave the fenced areas to do so.. there is ins & outs for campers, they've done this at Stagecoach for years.. they've also done camping by cars/rv's for years.. they know what they're doing..

this is less than stagecoach actually, there still is no hookups, which they have at stagecoach.. proper generators and running water..

You can WALK to the other sections, your car stays where it is...

Ten bucks this rule was implemented after some significant back and forth with the City of Indio...

I am excited!!

Yeah, probably because of the cash influx involved with food sales, etc.

yes, i agree.. but the idea of having to buy a new camping ticket every time you leave is nonsense..

Hypocrite I am, but car camping is a failure, and diminishes the good of in and out since you can't leave in the morning for breakfast & return by the time the gates open. This isn't Phish fest after all.

Yes because the only people who would utilize in and outs are people who want to drive into town every day for breakfast.

Guess what. You can bring your own food to the campground or purchase breakfast in the campground. This doesn't make car camping a failure.

I'm not camping....group of us get a house every year...but if I was I would have one or two people keep their cars in normal parking....I would be able to leave the grounds and grab some breakfast...not every car has to be locked up in the camping section

The problem is, I don't think there is normal parking if you want to keep your car there overnight. I left every morning to go grab breakfast and enjoy some respite from the heat, but with a 10x30 you'd be a fool not to set up a seriously shaded area. I also have no doubt that some sort of coachella-bus service into town will be available for car-campers. There's no way GV hasn't thought through this.

Ah, just saw that there's now a car-camping thread, will move my thoughts over there

I think there IS normal parking if you have a car camping pass.

I camped in an RV at the Phish Festival. The one thing that sucked is they were super strict on the "no glass" rule. Like, security walking around midday and shit peering in people's campers who had their door open.

I had a full bottle of Jack and a full bottle of Captain that they told me had to go, so I poured the alcohol into several red cups and put them in the freezer. :nono
