There has been a takeover. I'm trying to decide on the age limit here. Let's say 22+.

We can talk about 401(k)s, liking Midlake, and being old.

Hahahahahfdjs.

Ow. I think I pulled a muscle.

You have to be careful of those things when you are old.

Me and other members of my family were visiting my dad who was in Mexico on Business. It's a thing old people do.

I got a stuffed wool armadillo.

I wore sunscreen on Saturday when we went down to San Felipe and walked around the boardwalk and the beach and the tourist shops and whatnot.

It was warm and sunny. I wore shorts almost the whole time. But it actually rained in Mexicali on Sunday night/Monday morning. This happens like once a year.

mountmccabe
02-19-2007, 09:00 PM
I forgot to bring sandals. And I don't wear sunglasses cause of the wearing of regular glasses. Because my eyes are so bad. Because I'm old.

mountmccabe
02-19-2007, 09:00 PM
Actually I've been wearing regular glasses for near 20 years.

Neil Diamond came into the restaurant I used to work at. I think he was the most swooned-over celebrity I ever came across. A bunch of older ladies came up to ask me all giddily if that was Neil Diamond sitting in the corner. He is very scary looking up close.

mountmccabe

I used to wear flip-up sunglasses like baseball players used to wear. I'm sure they looked awful.

We actually had a Farrell's in eugene when I was a kid. They had a player piano, which I thought was the coolest thing on the planet. I don't know if it was one of the same chain or not. One day they sold it and changed the color of the building from green to red. Same menu, same employees, but for some reason it was just not the same. It's the Pearl St. Ice Cream Parlor now, which as an older child was always an icon of how even in the short time I'd been alive, things were not as good as they were "back when I was a kid".

Farrell's Ice Cream actually had a plate called The Pig's Trough.

The biggest thing you could order there was called the zoo. They put like 10 different kinds of ice cream, a bunch of bananas, wipped cream, and nuts into silver punch bowl. They had this stretcher that the bowl would fit in the middle. Two guys would come out carrying it like it was a body while another person hit a big drum announcing to everyone who was ordering the zoo.

I won a contest in the 5th grade, with 4 other kids, on naming all of the capitals to the US. Our teacher took us to the Rosemead location.

When I was a kid we played Atarii and listened to Michael Jackson
Are you positive it wasn't the other way around?

If you are an old person, you will never appear in a Girls Gone Wild video or anything else made by Joe Francis.

or on MTV for that matter...most of their shows have a cutoff age of like 22 for casting

The Social Security Administration sent me a letter yesterday listing various benefits, such as widow/widower support and retirement planning. Awesome.

i am also remembering sirens now that you mention it. we used to go to the one at metrocenter above the ice skating rink next to the old indoor twin cinema. not the old OUTDOOR twin cinema next to the whataburger with the four story slide that the kid got the back of his legs sliced open on. all gone now. this town has destroyed my childhhod.
Oh. my. god. I LOVED that Whataburger with the crazy high slide. I didn't give a goddamn about their food, but MY GOD, that slide!

It's kind of weird that my family took us there on occasion because my brother broke his head open falling off the McDonald's slide (at 23rd ave and Bethany) when he was 2. This was before they put the squishy playgrounds in.

I got one of those last week as well. I guess the SSA can check "inform old people of their benefits" off their to-do list now.

The company as a whole went bankrupt about 7 years ago I think.

The company as a whole was aesthetically bankrupt from the beginning.
