View Full Version : Christmas music?

does anyone know of any links to any good, modern Christmas music?

i'm particularly interested in finding some EDM or dub remixes of Christmas songs.. i've found mixes labeled as Christmas, but they were only labeled such due to the time of the year, not the musical content..

Oxymoron, my friend. How can any music about the same trite (Christian!) topic be anything other than bad, every single time?

I mean, prove me wrong, but...

I don't really care for most Christmas music for various reasons - not Christian, got too much of it in high school band - but sometimes that's what folks wanna hear and what I found that was a reasonable selection - not so much EDM but indie/good type bands - were collected into mixes at Leather Canary, some blog that I know nothing else about. I think they had 9 different mixes and I culled about 2 hours worth of songs from there.

I don't have any links and don't know if they've still got anything up. The end.

Christmas Time Is Here
MP3: Belle and Sebastien – Christmas Time is Here

MP3: Rogue Wave – Christmas

MP3: Blitzen Trapper – Christmas is Coming Soon

MP3: Daniel Johnston – Rock Around the Christmas Tree

MP3: Sufjan Stevens – We Wish You A Merry Christmas

MP3: Rilo Kiley – Xmas Cake

MP3: Deerhoof – Little Drummer Boy

MP3: The Flaming Lips – A Change At Christmas (Say It Isn’t So)

MP3: The Walkmen – The Christmas Party

no surprise, the Walkmen song is my fav of the lot - an original ditty that's totally fun.

Someone just gave me "The Christmas Album" I can't find anything about it anywhere but Sony records put it out in 96 and it is mostly Japanese artists. It's the coolest christmas gift I have gotten in a long time and the music is fucking out there. Here is the track listing:

Melt-Banana - White Christmas
Secret Chiefs 3 - I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her - Here Comes Santa Claus
Gastr Del Sol - The Bells Of St. Mary
Hair Stylistics - Sleigh Ride
S.O.B.* - Parade Of The Wooden Soldiers
God Is My Co-Pilot - Marshmallow World
Merzbow - Silent Night

Will be posting a few of the gems I've found from my old family's Christmas blues collection here as I post daily updates on Facebook throughout the month.

Today's featured song is a gem of weirdness from the 50s when for whatever reason stuff about the Congo was really hip.
