is this where we discuss movies we've recently seen that didn't measure up to the book?

I just saw Fantastic Mr. Fox yesterday but I don't remember the book and I sort of liked the movie.

ballroomdancer22
11-30-2009, 03:59 PM

I was surprised yesterday to find it wasn't in theaters anymore. There's fucking nothing good out right now.

Fantastic Mr. Fox > Where the Wild Things Are

I am excited for the road however. I read the book and it was excellent.

also this thread does not need to exist.

I saw Precious and thought it was good. How was it compared to the book?

Wouldn't be getting half the attention it's receiving were it not for Oprah's name being all over it. And Tyler Perry, from myself, PT Anderson to you, please lock yourself up for a very, very long time and contemplate how unfunny you truly are.

ballroomdancer22
12-07-2009, 11:24 PM
PT is just upset 'there will be blood' didn't get endorsements from oprah or the genious who has brought us the "Madea's" franchise.....choose your dick sucking wisely PT

Funnier than Jay Leno's program. I'll give you that.

ballroomdancer22
12-08-2009, 02:56 PM
it's hard to be sarcastic on a message board, i have never once watched an episode of what i assume is a horrid show....i bet Barack Obama will give his stamp of approval for "Precious" next....

paulthomasanderson
12-08-2009, 02:59 PM
George Lopez has a late night talk show now. That's sarcastic.

Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Life Aquatic?

12-08-2009, 03:25 PM
I guarantee he says Tenenbaums and Rushmore, like everyone else.

paulthomasanderson

Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Life Aquatic?

Fox was wonderful. Aquatic would've been shit had it not been for the soundtrack supporting it...namely the inclusion of Sigur Ros. Tenenbaums is the other. What's a Rushmore?

jackstraw94086
12-08-2009, 03:58 PM
I guarantee he says Tenenbaums and Rushmore, like everyone else.

preemptive pretense. don't be a douche. The rest of his collection isn't that big a secret.

My favs so far are bottlerocket and rushmore. yes rushmore. There's a reason it was his breakout film and lots of people you'd like to look down your nose at like it.

Life Aquatic was OK. Haven't seen Mr. Fox yet.

Darjeeling was a tragedy.

You ain't kidding.

He loves Owen Wilson more than I do with PSH. When did Wilson last mean anything to anyone? Saying when he attempted suicide doesn't count.

ballroomdancer22
12-08-2009, 04:23 PM
.....yeah i'm split between the andersons, no offense PT...although your the better looking one, he's got the better dress sense...

paulthomasanderson
12-08-2009, 04:25 PM
He's also got the persona of George Clooney. That's a fail.

ballroomdancer22
12-08-2009, 04:26 PM
and he looks like a frail chicken fetus, ala baby from Eraserhead

paulthomasanderson
12-08-2009, 04:30 PM
I read in an interview once where he noted how he longed to be the next Stanley Kubrick. Yikes.

Monklish
12-08-2009, 04:35 PM
Isn't that what any good director is supposed to hope to be? Who do you hope to emulate?

paulthomasanderson
12-08-2009, 04:41 PM
There's a difference being "wanting" to be and, say, "aspiring" to be. If that makes sense. I miss Ku.

Monklish
12-08-2009, 04:45 PM
Not much of a difference. My question still stands--which director do you wish you could have been?

paulthomasanderson
12-08-2009, 04:47 PM
I look up to Kubrick and Scorsese the most.

Monklish
12-08-2009, 04:48 PM
Then why do your movies still suck? Perhaps you're paying too much attention to Scorcese.

paulthomasanderson
12-08-2009, 04:49 PM
Because I take basically 4-5 years to make a new one.

Monklish
12-08-2009, 04:50 PM
Perhaps you should speed it up. Also you should find a capable writer.

paulthomasanderson
12-08-2009, 04:51 PM
My wife keeps having babies, so how can I?

Monklish
12-08-2009, 04:54 PM
I fail to see the connection. If you didn't write them you could probably turn out a new movie every 2-3 years. And they'd actually start being good. I'm sure you'd make up the difference of whatever monies you lost out from giving up the writing payday with the frequency of your directing checks. Plus they might be good.

paulthomasanderson
12-08-2009, 04:55 PM
Same should go for Rob Marshall then.

Monklish
12-08-2009, 04:58 PM
... what the fuck are you babbling about?

12-08-2009, 05:17 PM
you should remake Barry Lyndon.

That would be horrific and awesome all at once.

Wes Anderson
12-08-2009, 05:23 PM

Although the exclusive natural light is impressive.

Stop following me. Not promoting Mr. Fox anymore?

Wes Anderson

paulthomasanderson
12-08-2009, 05:30 PM
Go ahead. Make a poll asking who people like more. I'm done with you.

Wes Anderson
12-08-2009, 05:31 PM
Paul, why are you so familiar with the habits of message board losers?

foreman.
12-08-2009, 05:33 PM
Theres only room for one Anderson here, Wes. Take your leave.
