That's an amazing setlist for a small gig like this. I'm glad they didn't play anything new. I don't want to hear something new thru a shitty phone anyways.

It's definitely a great set list and I hope they play something similar at OSL, but I was kind of hoping for a tiny peak into what they're cooking up in the studio, if they are in fact making progress in the studio.

Maybe they're sort of warming up with these festivals and planning a bigger tour to debut the new stuff?

I heard in an interview with Julian that the main reason they're playing these festivals is because of (drum roll)...money. Unless they release the album this year i think festivals is the only choice we have.

Well, its a smarter move, play festivals, gauge audience response, and go from there.

Definitely. I also think that if there wasn't as much negative stuff coming out of this reunion (all of Julian's comments on the subject and that video of everyone in the studio except Julian) then the whole reunion would have so much more impact. I hope the new album is legit and not a stinker.

And pretty much every interview Julian did for Phrazes, there was at least one question asked about the Strokes reuniting, album, touring, etc with him responding in a not so excited mood.

I think he got annoyed of everyone just being all of a sudden more interested about The Strokes when they were on their hiatus than when they were actually together!

Yeah, mostly this.

I think he got annoyed of everyone just being all of a sudden more interested about The Strokes when they were on their hiatus than when they were actually together!

And I don't think that people were more excited during their hiatus than when they were together. I think the fact that their third album wasn't as strong as their first two put a strain on the band and they couldn't over come that. Until now of course.

Says who? Despite the mixing of the record, I think it was a great album! If you're talking about the media, they gave the band shit with their 2nd record too.

And ever since NME named their debut album of the decade, they've been getting a lot of attention.

I wouldn't say they got shit for their second record. There may have been some people who felt they should have done something different for their second album, but for the most part it was generally liked. "Reptilia" is one of their best songs they've ever produced. Their third album was definitely a departure from their previous albums and more experimental, for them at least. As far as I remember, the reception was mixed to negative. I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as the first two. I think most would agree with me on that.

It was written on the setlist. I'm guessing they dropped it if the reviews of the set are accurate.

I'm thinking of going to OSL too just for The Strokes alone. They're in top form!

Truth be told I was skeptical about the strokes being the main headliner but those videos proved me wrong. They should totally be headlining at OSL instead of KoL, but thats a different thread. Point is wow.

I was gunna mention something like that. Its just been far too long and in a world of KoL we need the strokes to save the day

So is that stage set up their set up or was it just what the festival used for them?
