An article/interview with Elizabeth Fraser from the Guardian makes me think it never will happen (http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/nov/26/cocteau-twins-elizabeth-fraser-interview).:(:(

Goddamn does she sound like a nutjob (it takes one to know one). I'm glad I got to see them perform live once in the 90's.

I don't think so. Doesn't sound too crazy to me.

I don't mean it in a bad way. She seems extremely emotional and passionate.

I was truly disappointed when they cancelled in 2005.

Then Bauhaus took the stage and I forgot all about them.

Then I got home and saw one of my CD's and got sad again.

I am an emotional roller coaster. BTW,my middle name is Elizabeth.

Its my understanding that they get all pissy about it if you call them The Cocteau Twins. It's just "Cocteau Twins", right?

Are you asking me, MP? My middle name is Elizabeth. Not my first. ;)

Seen em twice in their heyday and glad I did. Their last performance here in LA (Palladium?) the crowd wouldn't let them go after they closed with Akea Guinea. They obviously had no plans for an encore but after all the stomping they came out and did... Akea Guinea again! So I get to say I've seen that great song performed twice.

she's dumb.

shouldn't go around fucking your band mates if you can't handle it.

The "fuck" part has very little to do with anything. Are you in your early teens? NTTAWT but only a child would think that mattered all that much where long term relationships (business relationships at that) are concerned.

yeah doesn't sound like their going to get back anytime soon. I've seen them 4 times and they are amazing! Liz with her piercing eyes just fucking wailing away very witchy trance like was so amazing! too bad

BTW Jake was Echo & Bunnymen's keyboard player

rats. Hate when i do that.

Edit later: Wait a minute. i think i'm in the clear with the title of this thread. Having to "the Cocteau Twins reunion" in the title could cover my error of "teh Cocteau Twins". The "the" could be referring to the reunion and not the band. Kinda like if there was say a Cream reunion. i could say "the Cream reunion" without anyone thinking i'm making the fopaux of saying "the Cream". i'll go with that.

That is one half of the story.

Liz wanted her then boyfriend to play drums for the reunion. Turned out he wasn't very good. Robin kept trying to give him pointers. Liz saw this as interferene. Liz walked out.

Same thing happened with the Thompson Twins reunion.Except it turned out none of them were any good so there was no one to give pointers.

I'm surprised Menik hasn't been in this thread. I vaguely remember reading once how bummed he was when the Cocteau Twins cancelled in 05.

By the way, I've only ever listened to Treasure. Where should I go from there?

in that interview, she made it sound like she can't create/perform music unless she's in a relationship with a bandmate.

I actually have a ton of respect for Elizabeth after reading that. Sure, maybe she's got some issues that need some attention, but she's clearly not treating her art as commerce and giving into the paycheck just to reform her old band for a few shows. That's one thing that annoys me about some bands that only are interested in the money. They probably didn't start out that way, why finish like it?

Try the following from Cocteaus

The Pink Opaque (4Ad compilation)

Garlands

Heaven Or Las Vegas

Also, if you like 4AD bands like Cocteau Twins you should look into recordings from This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance. The first Dead Can Dance full length is a classic.

This is correct.Except the lazy part.I was joking, based on how sucky the Thompson Twins were, and I kinda knew someone might get offended,so for that I'm sorry. Now I'm intrigued by International Observer and want to hear some.Particularly that House of the Rising Sun cover...

Great interview... I hadn't realized she stopped recording entirely after Cocteau Twins. We were really lucky to see her in 2006!
