Pumpkin shortage could mean empty shelves (http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-pumpkin18-2009nov18,0,5196858.story?track=rss)

Once pumpkin surpluses run out this year, O'Hearn said, there won't be any more until the 2010 harvest, which usually happens no earlier than August.

the article refers to it as The Great Eggo Shortage of 2009..

The Consumerist has been keeping me updated on this misfortune. I am disheartened.

I'm depressed about the pumpkins. I love pumpkin pie. Guess I'll have to get cherry instead.

Sweet potato pie is an excellent pumpkin pie substitute.

Not really. I think I want cherry more anyway. Have to remember to stop by Village Inn and order some for next week.
