i know the site coordinator(used to work security for him when he worked in SF)...

he said they are going for RATM for Fri, Kings Of Leon for Sat, and U2 for Sun....

late nights would be MMJ for Fri, and Prince for Sat (Prince would do main stage and be allowed 3-4 hrs)

Guns-n-Roses and Kiss are alternates...

also Dr Dre may come out of hibernation and bring his crew for a special one -off on the main stage before U2...

nothing is confirmed so its all heresay but fuck it sounds awesome!!!

Yeah, I think it's Furthur. KOL said they're definitely not playing any shows this year but since they already live right there in Nashville I could see them doing a one off. My money's on Furthur though.

KOL never said no shows in 2010, it's up in the air. The hiatus isn't really about wanting to take a break. supposedly there is beef amongst the guys right now, which is the only reason why a hiatus was put in place to begin with. A divided house is the way I heard it.

Theyre brothers. Theres ALWAYS going to be drama, especially from redneck alcoholic ones at that

yeah for sure, from 03-05 they used to fight backstage right before starting their set. They would be at a bar and two of them would get too drunk, and pink a fight with one another. This is something else Salah, I don't know the details, just that they are taking a cool off period.

I was getting the info that they said they're definitely not going to be playing any shows this year from a poster (I think it was in the confirmed artists thread) who said he waited on two of them at a restaurant in beverly hills and asked. Caleb said no way. He didn't seem to have any reason to be lying. He wasn't even a fan of the band.

MonOm

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers are playing. Maybe Steve will do some stand up too.

PJandBompton
01-08-2010, 06:11 PM
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they break up soon...It seems Caleb is the one always pushing for the growth of the band and at the live shows i saw Caleb seemed to be the only one that gave a fuck...

and in turn he is always the one playing like he doesn't want to be big. He is surprised by the popularity of the band. There is def. some shit going down, I know the other 3 guys wants to go back to their southern roots rock style. They mention it all the time in interviews.

TommyboyUNM

I just checked Inforoo and this is what they've been able to dig up as far as strong rumors go:

Pavement
Alberta Cross
Ryan Bingham
Lord T & Eloise
Baroness
Dave Matthews (either with DMB or others)
Kings of Leon
Stevie Wonder
Corey Chisel and the Wandering Sons
Mayer Hawthorne
GWAR
Noah and the Whale
Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers
Caravan Palace
311

So does any of this interest any of you? He won't get me there by himself, but if I go then I'll try everything in my power to see Stevie Wonder.

SoulDischarge
01-10-2010, 02:03 PM
Those are some pretty underwhelming rumors.

TommyboyUNM
01-10-2010, 02:06 PM
Pretty much none of this excites me, but they're just mostly smaller bands anyway. If I didn't have anything to do, I'd see Baroness.

last.fm has Alison Krauss and Mayer Hawthorne listed as confirmed acts for bonnaroo, along with Gwar of course.

I just found out my friends' band The Seedy Seeds might play in one of the small tents or cafes so that's cool.

TommyboyUNM
01-10-2010, 02:23 PM
Do you think last.fm got that Alison Krauss info from the article that was found to have been written in 2005?

The Seedy Seeds is an awful name for a band.

liquidsnake28
01-10-2010, 02:29 PM
Maybe so but they're awesome. I'm listening to Elbow right now, awful name/great band.

Sushov23
01-10-2010, 02:58 PM
If Pavement don't play Coachella, I'll be going to a festival with Pavement on the bill. So if Bonnaroo winds up with Pavement, the festival i'll be at is Roo.

liquidsnake28
01-10-2010, 03:55 PM
Are we doing a lineup pool this year? Either way here's my stab at the top ten names on the lineup:
The Who, Dave Matthews Band, Soundgarden, Kings Of Leon, Stevie Wonder, Furthur, My Morning Jacket, Paul Van Dyke, Steve Martin's Steep Canyon Rangers, Pavement

apostle2
01-10-2010, 04:00 PM
steve martin wouldn't be that high most likely. it's a straight up bluegrass group he's plays with, so it would probably be smack in the middle of the lineup. I would still probably go, but I hope that is nowhere near right.

MonOm
01-10-2010, 04:23 PM

These 10 are really a mixed bag. I think that for me to be at the farm next year, I would need to see an amazing undercard. Although Caravan Palace might get me there. I am really getting into this band. And there live show seems pretty good.

Yea, somebody on inforoo is also claiming that Dave Matthews, Kings of Leon, and Stevie Wonder are all but confirmed without a single legitimate source to back it up but a guy who said his friend called Metallica in 2008 and hence, knows the headliners this year.

liquidsnake28
01-10-2010, 04:41 PM
Tim, did you not read my post on the last page? I posted nearly that exact list.

My bad, missed it.

DMB and KOL would be pretty weak and too brotastic but The Who and Stevie would compensate for that.

apostle2
01-10-2010, 09:20 PM
The Who - Dave Matthews Band - Kings of Leon would be weak. I love The Who, but that? That is not The Who. That would be one headliner I wouldn't even consider seeing, one I would see briefly and then leave, and one I would watch most of and probably be disappointed with.

As far as I know, Régine Chassagne still has family and friends in Haiti and I don't know if they're all accounted for, so it would be understandable if work on the album had ground to a halt for the time being. Most of the band have or are taking part in local benefits around Montréal.

now that the lineup is announced for coachella, it really opens up some possibilities for the ROO.

i think the roo is gonna go for big headliners as the ROO...

coachella went back to not worrying about headliners and get 3 decent ones and then stacked the 2nd and 3rd tier brilliantly...

i think the roo will go for heavyweights and then fill the lineup with coachella leftovers..

nothing wrong with that as i love the roo just as much as coachella. and i think the roo is a overall better festival to go to for the experience and the vibe by a hair, but damn coachella does a great job with picking bands....

let the festival season begin!

I got diagnosed yesterday with hyperthyroidism. The thyroid is a gland in your neck that releases hormones primarily having to do with metabolism. My thyroid is releasing too much of that hormone and it's causing me to feel anxious, shaky, out of touch with reality, and causing weight loss. I've lost over 20 pounds in the last 2 months. It's easily treatable and I have an appointment tomorrow in which they'll probably prescribe some medication that I'll take for a very long time. So that means I won't be doing any drugs for a long time as well. I'm just cautious.

I wanna say something here. My opinion on what the Roo twitter is doing was just trying to get some attention at line up release time for Coachella. apostle2

it would make a giant stage show more cost effective to drag it to multiple festivals and get paid headliner $$$. a full blown tour would cost too much for them to pull off, a one off wouldn't recoup enough money for the production to be worthwhile. The thing that sucks about the Bonnaroo lineup release is that it's all on one big poster, we don't know what day an artist will play. Last year Friday was stacked (for my tastes) and Sunday had a lot less I wanted to see. We get the schedule though in May so we do get some advance warning but still it would be nice to have the days split up.

those headliners would be realistic if KOL aren't actually the headliners. They would be a solid 3rd headliner at Bonnaroo, but in that configuration they are not nearly big enough. If, say, The Who (just using the example that has been bandied about) played after KOL on friday, then that arrangement would seem about right.

I'm not sure its all that big a deal for a board to have a lineup pre-announcement when the announcement is a couple months off the festival and every band worth a shit has already released their winter/spring tour schedule. It's a little harder to figure it out when the festival is five months off and during a touring season that most bands haven't announced their schedules for.

Even then, I think there are generally about 4 or 5 surprises in the Bonnaroo lineup if you know how to filter through what information is crap and what's legit.

Ha ha, and I get flack for saying Cali. Anyway, Dylan, I am for sure not going to Coachella because of the headliners. I hope the Roo is better because if it is, I will catch you there. cr****

Understandable, Ron, let's hope Massive Attack hit the Red Rocks this year!

One of the rumored twitter posts said these bands.

Dave Mathews Band
Roger Waters
Neil Young
My Morning Jacket
311
Jay-Z
The Dead Weather

Sounds very plausible.
We will wait and see, although I am highly doubting I can go since my Glastonbury 3 week vacation is the same month.

If they get Neil Young I don't care what the rest of the lineup is. Neil Young and Gwar = I'm satisfied.

Neil Young and Roger Waters? That'd be awesome. If you can afford to go, I'm jealous.

My dream is to one day hit Coachella, Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, All Points West in the same year and then do a thorough comparison.

I honestly would be jealous if Roo got Neil Young and a Wall Set.

liquidsnake28
01-27-2010, 06:54 AM
Roger Waters doing the Wall makes a hell of a lot more sense than DSOTM. What would be really cool is if RW did the wall and David Gilmour did DSOTM at the same fest. That would be the closest we'd get to a reunion.

Unless something is changing, Waters isnt doing his Wall show at Roo at the moment. I think they are speculating since he is touring. But why make the one appearance in June when he is slated for a late summer north american run?

liquidsnake28

I'd say Gorillaz are more likely than Waters.

As much as I don't care about Rolling Stones and DMB, way more of my friends would come if they're both there so I'd actually be glad about that. KOL doesn't do anybody any good.

They might sell it out eventually but definitely not right away. Remember it's much bigger than coachella.

I hope and think there's a really good chance of Soundgarden, Stevie and MMJ. If we get one of those three I'm satisfied. I'd be fine with a couple bad headliners because then I could have a chance to finally see some comedy which I never can do because I usually see all the headliners along with every else so just the music fills my days and nights. Plus the line for the comedy tent is always ridiculous.

Jay-Z was just upgraded to expected on CoS.

If this turns out to be true I'm kind of surprised he's going to play Isle of Wight Friday then fly to Bonnaroo for Saturday.

It's looking like
Neil Young
Jay-Z
DMB

BlackSwan

Pavement.

Lineup out next week right? Wow there really arent a lot of solid rumors are there

liquidsnake28
01-28-2010, 07:06 AM
The people on their message board say it's all because the fest is a couple months after coachella so it's really hard to tell who will be touring. This is obviously bullshit and they're just really lazy. They never email bands, ask them after shows, etc. They just spend the whole year mindlessly speculating instead. It's kinda sad.

Not sarcasm. The reason it's so sad is that they spend a shitload of time thinking and talking about the possible lineup without doing any actual research whatsoever. Sending emails takes a couple minutes tops and if you're at a show and you want to meet the band afterwards anyway, why not ask if they're playing your favorite fest?

scoop49er
01-28-2010, 07:46 AM
Hippies do not care.

true dat....

they just want plenty of jam bands and hommade special "cheese" sandwiches and they are happy!!

lineup should be solid.. hoping for Prince but just a pipedream and very very doubtful.. my guess is:

NEIL YOUNG
DAVE MATTHEWS BAND
KINGS OF LEON
JAY-Z
STEVIE WONDER
SOUNDGARDEN

outside shots and my personal preference but wont happen but crossing fingers:
Prince
Rage Against The Machine

oh man that would make me feel so much better about not going this year

scoop49er
01-28-2010, 07:54 AM
i could live with it as i go more for the experience itself and the lower tier is always really good.

and i really dig the late nights!

sbessiso
01-28-2010, 07:59 AM
Youre absolutely right, the main reason ive gone the past two years is mainly for the experience. But man, they seem to never ever ever hold a light to coachellas lineup

scoop49er
01-28-2010, 08:05 AM
true. Coachella gets the head start and does a amazing job with that...

i thought the roos' top tier was better than coachella's last year.. but coachella always win with amazing 2nd tier-middle tier bands.. but then the roo does a better job with the layout and more to do and the late nights are epic......

overall they both kick ass and ill be at both so all good...

but damn Prince at the Roo would be fucking incredible cuz he can go 3-4 hours if he wanted to....and thats when prince goes to another level and ive been at his shows when he goes 3+hrs and its amazing... also how cool would it be for him to do 2 sets and one of them a late night?? he would play till morning!

liquidsnake28
01-28-2010, 08:09 AM

You're crazy for not wanting to see Neil Young and Stevie Wonder.

sbessiso

Not even in 07.

And I definitely dont wanna see them as much as oh say Gorillaz, Thom Yorke, DEVO etc etc (stevie would be fun though, no lie)

scoop49er
01-28-2010, 08:12 AM
i think both festivals cater to their audience.. although the roo has tried to move more to the center as coachella does as well and the die hards fucking hate that! but overall the festivals are better for it...
