The old bait n switch:

But of course. I get rid of my DirecTV to use this exclusively, and then they start charging.

Fuck Hulu.

Eh. I used it a couple of times when I was in the hospital to catch up on 30 Rock.

malcolmjamalawesome
10-22-2009, 09:29 AM
What were you in the hospital for, over-raving?

10-22-2009, 09:29 AM
I hate when Hulu is missing a couple episodes. Why are you missing episodes 5 and 6 of Greek, Hulu? You have 1-4 and 7-8. It's stupid.

And they only have like, 5 It's Always Sunny episodes. Why are there not more?

malcolmjamalawesome
10-22-2009, 09:30 AM
Because people need to sell DVD's.

because without any income or recoup costs, shows don't get fucking made and actors don't get paid. I don't mind paying for shit i like. It's better than not having it at all.

But that said I don't watch movies or TV on my computer.

i agree. its quite overrated. i was always told you could watch anything you want on there, but that's far from the case.

btw, this cracks me up: "I think what we need to do is deliver that content to consumers in a way where they will appreciate the value”.

Ugh. Next thing you know, musicians are going to start charging you for their songs.

that's what advertising is for. when they stream it to you like that, you cant skip past the commercials like you can on dvr, so they probably make a ton on that ad time.

I have a magical key to a world of fantastic delight and wonderment.
It costs me $9 a month.

It's called a Rapidshare account.

Recogniiiize fooools.

BTW, if Hulu could get this service to my living room tv, I would pay for it. But I wouldnt want commercials.

This is no big deal. The few shows I check out on Hulu also stream on their parent network's website, so I can just click over and watch it somewhere else. Besides, I already caught the season finale of Hell's Kitchen last night...Suckas!

aren't there 12309823 other sites that stream tv/movies out there as it is? like every other free media service gone for-profit since the dawn of reasonable internet speeds, people will just move on to something else.

That's the kicker, are we gonna have to watch commercials if we pay? That's fucking BS. Why i hate TV. Even being laid off, I'm not watching any more TV. Especially daytime TV, I'm afraid to even see what it consists of. Well, except cash cab at 7am. WOOHOO CASH CAB!!!

Devin the Dude
10-22-2009, 10:31 AM
i watched Cash Cab for a consecutive 3-hour block the other night.

we were really stoned.

Stupid idea.

"...I think what we need to do is deliver that content to consumers in a way where they will appreciate the value,” he said.

"Oh you stupid little middle American worms. You won't appreciate these shows as free until we start charging you $1.99 to watch them! Bwahaha!

Gosh I hate it when people stop giving me things I value for free. Really pisses me off.

marooko

I appreciate the value. What i don't appreciate is the BS embedding. If I was able to post that "Sunny" video the other day, it would have been great. Cause I appreciated the comedic value. Fuck your money grubbing hands, hulu.

a LOOOT of them are getting shut down or having shows pulled from them though. It's become so much work to hunt down single episodes of shows lately that i'm just waiting for DVDs to come so i can Netflix them now

I've been wanting to pay for something else. Bout time hulu.

Really though, I'v e only tried to watch something on Hulu once. I had to sign up. I won't do it again.

That's another thing: I hate having to register on a fucking website. HATE IT!!!! I'm not buying anything, posting anything, selling anything. So i sure as hell ain't gonna give you anymore than what your fucking cookies are already stealing.

I know, I watched the episodes they had of the new season and immediately went out and bought seasons 1-4. It's like cocaine, the first line is free.

No one is gonna go for it, then they'll revert back to it being free. If people wanted to pay to watch the shows on the computer or whatever, they would just be buying them off iTunes and skipping Hulu. There was a reason people were tuning into Hulu, and there will obviously now be a reason why people will stop using it.

I could actually see hulu getting really big this way.

Reasons:

(1) It is becoming more and more common these days to have a computer hooked up to your tv (e.g. ps3 or xbox360, or even a hub that runs osx or windows). So watching what hulu has to offer from your living room television is very feasible.

(2) With more revenue comes more and better programming. If they could compete with the major cable companies on demand feature they could really take off.

Unless it's a sporting event I rarely watch live tv. It's all on demand or dvr.

What they should do is...charge for commercial free, and continue to offer shows for free streaming with ads.

HunterGather

Even if Hulu does charge, the main networks prolly will still have their episodes online at their own sites for free (as they do now).
