Does anyone remember a show on MTV in the late 1990s called Oddville. It has a nerdy host named Frank Hope (played by Rich Brown). It had crazy guests and random puppets. Some musical guests on that show included Local H, Blink 182 and Cibo Matto. The BEST part of the show was silent co-host David, plated by David Greene. He would just sit there on the couch no matter what antics or distractions took place and he had a haircut like the killer in No Country for Old Men. I wish it lasted more than 65 episodes. MTV, if you are reading this, BRING BACK ODDVILLE. The only non-music show that is better than Singled Out.

I thought Oddville was an animated show? Maybe I'm thinking of something else.

EDIT: I'm thinking of MTV's Oddities. With The Maxx.

Oddville was definitely NOT ANIMATED. There are clips of it on youtube. I wish someone would put a picture of the bad guy from No Country of Old Men next to a picture of the silent co-host of Oddville, David. David's hiarcut was ahead of its time, and he had even less dialogue than the villain did.

I wish the Strokes would have played on Oddville. Their NY "nonchalant cool" would have been an amazing paradoxical moment to contrast with the weirdness and madness on that show.

I was on Singled Out, both as a picker and making the final 3 so I am a little bit biased. There are clips of it on youtube. The best music show was 120 Minutes at its prime. I did not watch Alternative nation because I could not stand Kennedy.

The State- 24 Episodes
Whatever the fuck you're talking about- 65 Episodes.
Singled Out- Existed.

I hate you, America.

Oddville was a great show, though I like the original cable-access version better.

Also, there are 4 clips on Youtube, and they are all of bands playing. How is this a non music show?

I'm pretty sure each episode had a musical guest at the end but, by and large, the show did not focus on music. Just random people with weird and pointless talents.

pointless talents for sure.

Remote Control was the best. I had a Remote Control game for Commidore 64.

If ANYONE can put more Oddvile clips on here and/or Youtube besides what is already on there, I will be eternally greatful.

Those talents MADE the show, besides David the silent co-host. I also do not remember the little puppets behind the couch doing anything besides moving there heads back and forth. Oddville HAS TO COME BACK, hopefully with the original cast intact. Another show that needs to come back is Beat the Geeks. I still think half of the regular message board users can beat the "music geek."

Another memorable "character" was Joey the Monkey. It was some guy (I assume it was a guy) who got in a huge monkey costume during all the Oddville shows and danced around. I think he wore a conductor hat.

I wonder if the guy in the Joey the Monkey suit has found work since that show. I know "piano boy" John Ernst from Singled Out still works for MTV as a person who places music in reality shows such as The Hills, according to his wikipedia page.

Which one of those two dudes would win in a fight (in character of course)? They should put that on an Oddville reunion episode.

Oddville needs to make a comeback. Can someone start an online petition or something?

I care. Also, maybe they can revive "Just Our Luck" that short lived 1983 sitcom that had a black genie and a white master and starred TK Carter. I bet NO ONE REMEMBERS that extremely politically incorrect show.

Shit. Is it good or bad that I remember Mr.Green Jeans from Captain Kangaroo?

AlecEiffel

It's not that big of a deal, I remember that too. Captain Kangaroo was on for almost 40 years.

Mister Green Jeans NEVER got the girl, but neither did the Captain. Hell, no one on Dusty's Treehouse or Whitney and the Robot got laid either.

I wonder know if Blink 182 playing on Oddville helped precipitate their first breakup.

It didn't I have that show at home. It was actually their first TV performance ever.

Wow, Blink 182 premiered on Oddville. And they went downhill ever since. At least Ken Ober was not the host.
