Up and coming indie rock/pop acts are a bit lacking so far, so:
Asobi Seksu (please, please, please! such a great band that has been getting more attention lately, and great reviews, even on bitchfork)
Islands
Emily Haines
The Knife
Charlotte Gainsbourg
CSS
Final Fantasy
Beirut
Explosions in the Sky (surely playing)

Already somewhat big:
Sufjan Stevens
Dresden Dolls
Blonde Redhead (practically confirmed already)

I'd like to see some downtempo electronic artists like Ulrich Schnauss, Bonobo, Amon Tobin, and even a group like Lemon Jelly which to my knowledge has never played a show in NA. And without question, Boards of Canada.

sure, why not. Lots of people love Flogging Molly, they put on an outstanding show and they would keep the energy up. coachella usually seems to have at least one punkish band on the bill right?

Thanks. I had a dream that Air, Jarvis Cocker, and Charlotte Gainsbourg did one of those KCRW world festival gigs at the Hollywood Bowl after Coachella.

Sufjan
Sun Kil Moon
Graham Coxon
Black Keys
The Lucksmiths
The Music
Mates of State

i really doubt that the Knife will play. Anyone who saw their live sets on the tour can attest to the fact that it takes them a long time to set up their unique show, and I don't think they'd be able to pull it off at Coachella. If they were there, I'd see em again. They were fantastic live.

It took Madonna quite a long time to set up as well, like half the fucking day. But I guess she can do that because she's Madonna. Placebo just confirmed themselves. If The Knife somehow end up playing too, I think I'll have to change my mind about not going this year.

Flogging Molly would rock, but there are "punkish" bands on the bill already (e.g., Gogol Bordello, Circa Survive). Of course, there's never too much punk.

Bands that should be added ASAP:

(1) Crown City Rockers
(2) Earl Greyhound (so perfect for Coachella)

Ceilopty
01-22-2007, 02:43 PM
Husker Du
Pogues
Durutti Column
...
The only new band I wanna add is Art Brut

I'd like to see some downtempo electronic artists like Ulrich Schnauss, Bonobo, Amon Tobin

I think Amon Tobin played in '02.

Asobi Seksu and The Knife seem like the big omissions to me.

Obviously, like everyone else on the planet I want to see Portishead, My Bloody Valentine, and Boards of Canada, but I'm not exactly shocked that they're not on the list.

Realistic:
Asobi Seksu
Final Fantasy
Emily Haines (two days ago she said maybe, and that she wanted to, so what happened?)
Beirut

Less so:
Modest Marr (like Isaac Brock would ever turn down a paycheck)

Not at all possible:
Portishead (obvious)
My Bloody Valentine
Neutral Milk Hotel
Sufjan Stevens (why does he hate Coachella so much?)

99 as well, I believe. He has a new album coming out soon, so I thought it should be time to bring him back.

Realistic additions that I would love to see:
Modest Marr (I'm honestly surprised they aren't on the lineup yet...I had them pegged as shoo-ins)
Beirut (PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!)
Voxtrot
Clipse
The Mountain Goats

Not so realistic additions that I would love to see:
Portishead
The Knife
Neutral Milk Hotel (or at least Jeff Mangum playing solo)
The Psychedellic Furs
Joanna Newsom

Either way, the initial lineup is very exciting.

We need at least 10 of the following for Coachella to be the best of the eclectic music festivals:

400 Blows
The Shins
The Locust
Om
Ex Models
Deftones
Oneida
Wolf Eyes
Liars
Boris
TV on the Radio
Magik Markers
The Mars Volta
Animal Collective
Portishead
Anticon
Slayer
Antony and the Johnsons
The Stooges
Prince
Lightning Bolt
Sunn O)))
Jaga Jazzist
Mastodon
Serena Maneesh
Black Dice
Roxy Music
Scott Walker
Converge
The Knife

There is always too much crappy Brit-Pop and Indie Rock at Coachella...GV should pay attention more to the ATP Festival Line-Ups. A lot of these acts would be relatively cheap to book, too.
