So I am thinking about going to this for the first time this year. I especially want to go if Pavement, Neon Indian, Why?, and Edward Sharpe end up playing, but I don't know if this has been asked and don't want to search through the thread.

Hahahaha. Good one.

One man's opinion:

Confirmed:
Pavement, Neon Indian, Vetiver, Wale

Rumored:
Nada Surf, Vampire Weekend, Why?, Local Natives, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Soundgarden, Miike Snow, The National, Edward Sharpe

They're playing the Wonder here on the 29th so I'd say there are a likely for Sasquatch.

Last year the rumours for Sasquatch had me really excited. This year... not so much.

You're not a Kings of Leon fan though. Two weeks before the lineup announcement last year, we had very little other than Kings of Leon. NIN were a bit of a rumor, but Jane's Addiction wasn't a rumor until a week before the announcement. The bands you like weren't announced until the official announcement.

There is much more of a discussion of rumored bands this year, granted, none of them are HUGE (except Pavement).

I guess what I meant to say was, last year I knew The Avett Brothers, Monotonix and NIN were going to be there... so that had me excited. This year... nothing.

Ah, I do believe Avett Brothers were also a rumor prior to the lineup announcement. I don't recall Monotonix being a rumor before they were confirmed. Either way, I read a lot, and post less, but I do recall you turning me on to both bands, so I thank you for that.

I'm intrigued. Any idea when you can release the info or when the official announcement comes? I'm more than ok with no pumpkins or soundgarden. I'm also ok with repeat headliners/subheadliers....as long as they are good.

Can you confirm The National? lol Sory I can't help but pry now.

It doesn't get better than the Gorge. The problem I run into every year is it's the same time I go to Detroit for DEMF. Not sure I will have the funds for Detroit this year and I may just stay close to home and go to Sasquatch. Not that I am going to bitch, it's a hell of a plan b.

Erika and I saw Girls at last year's Capital Hill Block Party. We enjoyed their set, especially their cover of Ricky Nelson's "Dream Lover," but I sure hope we get some better sh!t than what's already been mentioned.

Edit:

I have an unsubstantiated feeling that Jamie Lidell will be at Sasquatch this year. His new album featuring Beck, Feist and some of Grizzly Bear is out on May 18th (my Bday). I have seen him live twice (opening for Beck and on his own with a full band). Both times were a blast. So yeah...

Atlas Sound is an electronic side project by Deerhunter's frontman:

Surfer Blood is guitar driven "pop." Check out the songs Catholic Pagans, Neighbuor Riffs and Floating Vibes:

But seriously. Matt, Sasquatch is an awesome festival. The line up last year was awesome, but since I was planning on attening Coachella, Bonnaroo and planning a trip to Europe, I told myself I wouldn't go. I week before the festival, I bought tickets to 2 of the days. Sasquatch is also the only music festival I attended, where I have watched all 3 headliners. In 08 with REM, The Cure and The Flaming Lips. I just have a feeling it wont be as great as past years this year because the rumours leading up to it werent very promising. I remember 08 and 09 being stacked full of amazing rumours, most of them panning out. No matter what the line up looks like this year, I am not planning on attending. With that being said, I will probably end up at least going 1 or 2 days.

Ha, I did the same thing yesterday. The blind pre sale offers a decent discount and it's easy to sell via CL if needed. Hopefully the offerings are compelling enough to force me out there this year. :) Pavement at the Gorge sounds lovely.

And after consulting last year's dance tent scheduling; I formally request more than two acts placed a the end of the night. Thanks in advance.

rage patton

Jeff, previous to last year, they had 0 dance acts per day. Last year was a major step up.

And what is the dance tent at night... is the comedy tent during the day. So I highly doubt there will be more than 2 dance acts per day this year.

Dave Matthews always does a residency at the Gorge in Summer so that'd rule him out, right? KOL headlined a day last year and the Flaming Lips did the same in 08 so one can assume they're out too. The floor is already above Bonnaroo's ceiling.

I'm pretty sure I won't be seeing Pavement at Coachella, so that's what really sold me. Plus, any opportunity to break out my flannel....

By the way, the dance/comedy tent at Sasquatch is about half the size of the Gobi.

So, if LCD Soundsystem do play... they will be on the mainstage.
Woah!! No wonder peeps were talking about not getting in last year. Though I have no doubt LCD would main stage things should they be on the bill *fingers crossed*

True. I wasn't really talking about specific bands though. The Bonnaroo line-up overall is a snore... hopefully Sasquatch will be kinder to me.
For sure. I had a 'wtf' moment typing those names out. Like, really, those three? No wonder.

I heard it wasn't too hard to get into the tent during the dance artists actually. The comedy tent on the other hand... was insane. But yeah, it is small. I wouldn't be surprised if they increased the size this year. In fact, it would be wise of them to do so.

Tommy mentioned to me that they were putting more emphasis on the dance tent this year. Not sure where he heard that though.

The Rumpus Room is in the same location as the second stage was, so they have plenty of room for expansion. It was such a hit last year, I'm sure it will be larger this year. Then again, having terrible headliners helps draw bored attendees to the Rumpus Room.

If they greatly expand the Rumpus Room, they will increase the overall capacity of the festival, and will have the opportunity to sell more tickets.

I'm doing a bit of lurking on the Sasquatch message board and came across this statement:

"I was TOLD by an employee of Live Nation that it's the most solid line-up Sasquatch has probably ever had and may match Coachella in that aspect. But Sasquatch doesn't ever really have huge headliners. It happens every now and then, but most of the time our headliners are sub headliners elsewhere."

No way to prove the veracity of this post from the Sasquatch thread, but interesting nonetheless:

"I just spoke with a source I trust very much who claimed to have seen the lineup. I begged and begged, but he refused to even name the headliners. The only band he confirmed positively was The New Pornographers. They're Monday.

He also was willing to confirm that Phoenix, The Arcade Fire, and Soundgarden were all NOT on the lineup he saw, that Pavement was not, in the way he saw the lineup presented, headlining, and that all three headliners were, as he put it, "unexpected." He warned, however, that they are unexpected partly because they're KOL-style unproven headliners. That signals to me no Jack Johnson and no Pearl Jam (of course). He gave one last hint: the headliner Pavement leads into is not a US band."

I think I started the Massive Attack excitement, so I apologize if we are all severely let down.

No need to apologize. It's a great suggestion for an "unproven" non-US headliner. And the final announcement hasn't come = hope :)

Not to mention, the Sasquatch board is ablaze with Massive Attack talk now.

Evil Urges is one of the most disappointing albums I've ever heard. Oh the terribleness.

I'm not sure if I like MMJ on record. This live album is pretty good so far though.

seriously, Sasquatch was able to land Pavement and My Morning Jacket and the Roo ends up with crap like DMB and KOL.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading some northwesterners mocking the roo for DMB on the Sasquatch board. We get about 4-5 DMB shows up here per year... home turf and all.

I think it goes back to the head of roo not liking to pay too much.
