If there's a hint of truth to this that means Massive Attack wont be there. So i'll choose to ignore this bullshit in favor of optimism.

Soundgarden a third line act, though? 50 minutes? I'm a huge SG fan, but that should seem crazy to just about anyone.

But I'll take 50 mins here and 2+ hours on a tour show, if it happens.

It's funny that some people think Pavement are headliners.

Well they are headlining Sasquatch, Primavera, and most likely a few other Euro festivals. They go in the category of bands I think they could headline Coachella and get a decent amount of tickets sold but just won't. Same with Soundgarden.

Euro festivals are different than Coachella. Kings of Leon headlined Glastonbury a couple years ago. That doesn't mean they automatically could have headlined Coachella that same year.

The average music fan has at least HEARD of Soundgarden.

Well, Pavement has some measure of success in the UK... Soundgarden has a large measure of success here (Comparatively). I know there are a lot of Malkmus fans, but for the vast majority of attendees in the USA, Pavement isn't a dollar-decision maker.

I'm not saying Soundgarden is a dollar-decision maker, but they do have three platinum records, Grammy awards, and MTV Video awards... none establish their worth as artists, but all establish that people will recognize and appreciate their name value.

Assuming this is true...

I'm not sure who the "huge headliner" or "repeat headliner" would be.
"Last headliner" would be Muse, although I don't think they'd close out the fest.

Subheadliner that could also headline would be Pavement or Soundgarden.

Third-line reunion... I have no clue. 2010 is fucking reunion year.

CREATE YOUR BAND NAME & ALBUM COVER:

To Do This

1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations" or click http://www.feath.com/idea/quote.htm The last four or five words of the quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days The Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

None that I've seen... and I've been looking.

It is ridiculously logical, though... they've always been prone to festivals (though it was a long time ago), it's a quick payday and a short set (unless they headline), and they're a West Coast band.

Plus, Chris Cornell is a Los Angeles guy now, and his tour was a Golden Voice production. It really makes so much sense it'll be surprising if they're not there.

So they probably won't be.:(

Outkast.

Bowie is too out there to happen, and if he was going to play a festival this year it probably would have been Glasto. U2, Rolling Stones, The Who, and Gorillaz are all out for number one because there has been rumors floating around for each of those bands. Some blogger, I don't if it was Monk or COS mentioned a big Hip Hop act in passing awhile back as well.

I think Busy P is confirmed for coachella this year. this is indirectly stated in his website with the coachella poster. link here:

http://busyp.coolcats.fr/2009/12/see-you-in-the-desert/

Good on that Busy P confirmation
that's dope, he's pretty great live

Busy P Confirmation (http://busyp.coolcats.fr/page/3/)

HOLD ON

I call bullshit on this so called Busy P "confirmation".

All that page from his blog tells us is that he we be AT the festival, it says nothing about him PERFORMING.

Considering the close relationship that Coachella and Ed Banger have had over the last several years, I think it is a given that the head of Ed Banger and the manager of most of its artists (Pedro Winter) will most likely fly over from Paris and at the very least attend the festival. In fact nearly all the of the Ed Banger crew usually attend the festival regardless of whether they are booked to perform or not; those guys just love Coachella.

I think that blog post is enough for us to place Busy P in the "Heavily Rumored" list but certainly not in the "Confirmed" list.

Summerkid, for the sake of the integrity of your own thread, take Busy P off of the confirmed list until we get some more concrete evidence.

I'm not entirely dismissing Busy P, but he also posted this on his blog: http://busyp.coolcats.fr/2009/12/im-ready/ and didn't play at that show. So it can be assumed that he might sometimes post about events he's not slotted to play at (even though the SWXMS line-up is clearly evident).

Uh, not that the clue means shit, but if you're really gonna try to answer it...I think the clue is basically saying the big "indie" reunion(s) will mean shit when compared to this (inferring a big "mainstream" act - ala Soundgarden - duh).

I have his and DJ Mehdi's essential mix, which is fun. Birthday party, eh? In los angeles, though, right?

Essential mix was dissapointing to me.

Cara, last year he got a certain someone to shed his robot gear and hit the decks. That was, after sets from Sebastian, Mehdi, Kavinsky, BusyP, and Atrak.... yyyeeeeaaahhhh

Outside of a video of Pedro saying, "I'm playing Coachella 2010 on (day x)," what other concrete evidence can you ask for?

Oh, I don't know, maybe like an article from a real news source saying that he will be performing? Kinda like this one (http://pitchfork.com/news/tours/881-...ng-tour-dates/) for Muse, or this one (http://themusicslut.com/2009/10/8-questions-with-devo/) for Devo, or this one (http://www.eluniversal.com.mx/espectaculos/93719.html) for Zoe, or this one (http://www.examiner.com/x-17319-Chicago-Music-Industry-Examiner~y2009m10d22-Exclusive-Interview-with-Andrew-Wyatt-of-Miike-Snow) for Miike Snow, or this one (http://www.iprong.com/music/musicianinterviews/2507-hockey-interview/) for Hockey, or this one (http://detnews.com/article/20091217/ENT04/912170311/The-buzz-is-all-about-Mayer-Hawthorne) for Mayer Hawthorne, or this one (http://monterreyunder.wordpress.com/2009/06/02/el-gran-silencio-es-la-1er-banda-confirmada-para-el-festival-coachella-2010/) for El Gran Silencio. I think you get the idea.

All of the confirmations on the first page of this thread are either legitimate new sources confirming the artist or the artist themselves saying they will be performing. That is all of the confirmations except the Busy P one which is based off of a vague statement from the artist that is open to multiple possible interpretations.

Because he's an artist/label head, what would be considered a slam dunk confirmation for anyone else isn't for him? Not so much.

This might possibly be considered a confirmation if it wasn't coming from the mouth of an Ed Banger artist, who as I said before are known for attending Coachella regardless of whether they are playing or not.

I think that this blog post fully merits him being HEAVILY rumored, but is it not possible that he may just be expressing excitement for attending the festival rather than performing in it? Is that not even POSSIBLE?

I think the possibility of this makes this source just short of a confirmation.

Sorry.

I watched Chris Cornell perform a free concert and I ended up leaving before the first song ended. Not only was the music mind-numbingly boring crap, but his voice was so weak and thin. It was easily one of the top 3 worst shows I have seen. His voice back in the day was great and so were Soungarded, but now if they are at Coachella they will be skipped.

Muse and U2 would be lazy because they are on tour together, playing shows across america, and have some of U2's cheapest ticket prices that I can remember seeing.

So why book two headliners that are already touring together? The names at the top of the poster are a big draw for many of the people who go to a festival.

I didn't know that about the west coast or BEP. I know a strong percentage of the coachella attendance probably comes from the west coast, but think about us east coasters (i've met many of them at coachella). If it were Muse and U2 (which I think U2 is more likely for Roo), then the conversation between my friends I will be like this...

Me: Coachella lineup is out!
Friends: who is headlining?
Me: Muse U2 ???
Friends: oh yeah...we saw that show 9 weeks ago. Is U2 still gonna have the claw??
Me: doubt it
Friends: Good. That thing is gay.

not that it matters what my friends who don't go to Coachella...I am just using that as an illustration.

Audioslave has some good songs, but they MUST be re-visited to be appreciated. Nearly nothing they made would grab you on the first listen.

Plus, for every good/decent song they have, they have a horribly bad song to match it. Cornell's lyrics are definitely the worst element of Audioslave, in my opinion - and I'm a huge fan of his. They're just too... easy. "I do this, I do that... I feel this, I feel that" crap. *grumble*

"Euphoria Morning" was a good album, and a good live show... and the Jeff Buckley tribute song still kinda gives me chills.

My word. If anyone is looking for lulz or to feel better about their writing, give this a read:

Actually I was refering to the comments last night, where someone was posting clues in all caps, and then people were imitating it, one of them said Jack Johnson was headlining again, and then people actually believed it and wanted his sources.

I hear you on that. Last year:

Me: Soooo, who wants to go to Coachella with me?
Friends: Who's playing?
Me: Paul McCartney, The Cure, The Chemical Brothers, Morrissey and a slew of top mid-range talent and the best of the up-and-comers. It's an amazing experience and weekend-long party that may very well change the way you interact with music.
Friends: Hahaha, droopy McCartney! He's still alive? Hahaha. He's like deputy dog.
Me: He's a living Beatle playing mostly Beatles songs, that's kind of a big deal...

I went alone.

Don't feel bad. My friends are assholes too.

Where did this Elvis Costello, Fischerspooner, Goldfrapp list come from? I checked out CoS and didn't see it there... any truth to this at all?

Elvis Costello will be in the area during Coachella and has no L.A date added yet so I think he's a likely candidate. Goldfrapp speculation is all based on the fact that she has a new album coming out this year but it would be wonderful to have her there again.

i didn't list every act i've heard was confirmed, but i did top the list with Collie Buddz who are playing that show with Devin the Dude in SF

and the Kesha rumor i heard was pretty legit.. 2010's Uffie?

I don't want Pearl Jam at all but can someone explain why they were removed from rumored or whatever? It's listed they were removed due to them playing the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival which runs from April 23rd - May 2nd.

The only reason I brought this up is because I noticed Elvis Costello was playing the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and figured that would mean he would fall into the same category as Pearl Jam regarding Coachella. Obviously not considering the dates.

Fischerspooner and Goldfrapp had less-than-stellar releases in 2008/2009. But if the upcoming Goldfrapp sounds like previous work (e.g. Supernature) then I'll be thrilled. I'm still holding my breath for Annie and Little Boots. Oh, and GRACE JONES would rock it!

Btw, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some crazy addition like Christina Aguilera - given that her new album is a bunch of collaborations with Goldfrapp, Ladytron, Sia, Le Tigre and others. I mean, who would have thought that Madonna would ever do Coachella? We've had crazier additions.

Once "The Sea" is released, though, the real work will begin for Rae. She's lining up tour dates in the States and Europe to begin in April, and the trek will include some key festival appearances, like the newly revived Lilith Fair and Coachella.

{sigh} not everyone their has shitty taste in music.. i worked with about 30 of em on a show coming out this spring.. ironically, none of them listen to the shit on their channel.. the ones i hung out with all had very eclectic tastes i found.. Coachella lineups are fairly commercial in comparison.. the dude i was referring to was the host of the show.

What I love about Coachella is that in the first few months of people getting excited and making their predictions, people name off a bunch of Pitchfork and bloghype bands as who they think will be there. Then a few weeks before the lineup is announced, we get names like Corinne Bailey Rae and "Caravan Palace" -who according to Wikipedia apparently are a "French electro-swing band based in Paris"- names nooooobody could have ever predicted back in November! You can't make this ish up!
