The best of all the Glow-Fi stuff Ive heard, tho who knows what Washed Out will get up to once he puts out a full length.

What sucks is that he hasnt a lot of stuff that's easily postable here (yet)

But this is a must

Maybe. Maybe.

Making music, hanging with his daughter, and looking super dreamy. He's got a pretty good life.

Did any one else notice the article below the Memory Tapes one about Delorean? It says they're touring with Miike Snow and the tour leads right up to Coachella. I know Miike Snow is supposedly confirmed, but since Delorean has Pitchfork approval, I think its safe to assume they will be playing, too.

I would like to think so, but we've thought that about tourmates and opening acts before and been burned on it.

Yeah, Delorean will be at the Independent on 4/15 with Miike Snow. Sounds pretty certain to me :D

If Memory Tapes is there he will be up there for bands I will be pissed about missiing. So far none of the strong rumors and "confirmations" piss me off about not going.

I'm surprised that neither memory tapes nor neon indian are on the lineup. I just recently got into memory tapes and I really dig a few of his songs. "Stop Talking" is probably my favorite. Anyone see him live? If so would you recommend checking him out?

^^A lot of us just saw Memory Tapes this past weekend. One show was Friday in LA and another in SF on Saturday. Short set. Extremely short but very good. A lot of energy. Just two guys up there, drums and guitar, other stuff was prerecorded but some songs still had a different sound than the album. Much livelier than the album and I love the album. Good time but again, very short set. They just jammed through the songs. A friend recorded the LA show if you're interested.

He's back over here next Saturday. Already going to a 12pm free show (Tim & Sam / Hannah Peel) followed by a 4pm free show (Stairs To Korea / YucK), so may make a day of it.

Hells yeah to the new lp. The new song Today Is Our Life is pretty good too.

My overall favorite is Green Knight on Seek Magic. I absolutely love that song.

I know the last tour was kind of push buttony, but I'm still pissed I was in Seattle and missed the show is SF at The Bottom of the Hill.

New Album Player Piano out July 5:

On July 5, Carpark releases the new album from Dayve Hawk's hazy Memory Tapes project, Player Piano (the LP will see release in Europe on Something in Construction, while Inertia will handle the Australian release). An early version of album cut "Today Is Our Life" previously appeared on Something in Construction's Love SIC Disco compilation, and you can listen to that above.

A press release suggests that the record will be a divergence from the electronic stylings of 2009's BNM'd debut, Seek Magic, referring to its sound as "keyboard-based psychedelic girl-group songs." The statement also notes that Hawk is already working on the third Memory Tapes album. Busy guy!

Memory Tapes just sent over this great new 44-minute mixtape he put together recently, made up mostly of songs he was listening to while making his soon-to-be-released new record, Player Piano. He mixed in some beautiful previously unheard MemTapes material as well, including “some bits from the record.” All highly recommended; listen/download below, and check the full tracklist after the jump. Player Piano is out July 5 on Carpark / SiC.

01 Memory Tapes- “Fell Thru Ice 2″
02 The Cookies- “I Never Dreamed”
03 Celestial Choir- “Stand On The Word”
04 Lindisfarne- “Lady Eleanor”
05 Gandalf – “Me About You”
06 Amnesty – “We Have Love”
07 Anna – “Systems Breaking Down”
08 Memory Tapes – “Worries”
09 David Bowie – “Win”
10 Funkadelic – “March To The Witch’s Castle”
11 Black Keys – “Too Afraid To Love You (Memory Tapes Version)”
12 Memory Tapes – “Fell Thru Ice”
13 Memory Tapes – (music from Scott Eastwood art show)
14 Memory Tapes – “No. 79″

It is a nice pairing.

With all of the holes in the schedule, California dates should be added.

23 minutes of new Memory Tapes music provided as an extended mix:

http://ladyjamjar.com/jamjar/s3/modcasts/modcast-95-memory-tapes-slaughtered.mp3

I find I listen to mixtapes more than albums a lot of the time, so I wanted to make a new record in the form of a mixtape instead of a single or EP etc. It's all new, original Memory Tapes stuff just put together in the form of an extended mix. I thought the Modcast would be a cool way to make it available to people quickly and for free.
