Dylan, Longface, what the fuck are you guys talking about? Yeah, like the Rock the Bells promoters are really stupid enough to waste all of that money on an Outkast reunion and not even advertise it. You guys are like the idiots who thought GV would add a surprise headliner like U2 or MJ to Coachella's Saturday night just a couple weeks before the event. If hell freezes over and Andre performs with Big Boi then the Rock the Bells promoters are officially the biggest morons in the music festival industry. Having said that, Outkast at Coachella 2010 please.

Devin the Dude
08-01-2009, 01:52 PM
OutKast reunion is a possibility, though the billing makes little to no sense. they have an album out this year. most likely though, this is Big Boi's promotional option for his solo album, as wikipedia reads that both Andre and Big plan on releasing their solo albums prior to the big reunion. fingers crossed, of course, cuz who the fuck would NOT want OutKast to blaze this shit out?

either way, the festival is totally worthwhile, with the L.A. date spanning about 30 different acts (minus Cypriss Hill unfortunately). i got a ticket for free, but i'd be buying it if not. this year is a must.

OutKast reunion is a possibility

No, not at Rock the Bells. It's really not.

WhyTheLongFace
08-01-2009, 02:12 PM
We all know a full blown reunion isn't possible but he could come out for one song. I mean this is the same Rock The Bells who had Lauyrn Hill as a surprise guest

I would go if it wasn't for all the white people. They scare me.

WhyTheLongFace

I wouldnt shoot myself actually if they did a whole set full of all the classics. But I would kick myself for missing that one song. Stop over analyzing my hyperbole.

No, not at Rock the Bells. It's really not.

you must have not read the rest of my post where i vouch that it's not likely. you like to hear what you want to hear, i'm guessing? anyhow, see you there.

liquidsnake28
08-01-2009, 03:08 PM
see you there.

I'll be at Lolla and if I was in LA I'd have a hard time deciding between Underworld and that. This lineup is much better than last year's though, on par with the first year.

Devin the Dude
08-01-2009, 05:20 PM
agreed. i feel that underworld show, but i'm saving my raving for HARD Haunted. usually a better occasion altogether, in my opinion. plus, my ticket for Rock the Bells was free. :]

Big Boi is on from 540-615

20 minutes of Andre and Big Boi? I wouldn't worry too much. I still HIGHLY doubt that it will happen. Even if it miraculously does happen, who cares when we'll get a headlining Outkast set at Coachella next year?

Yay for insulting people for speculation and then assuming something that, even if the collaboration were to happen, has no guarantee.

Go back to the sewer from whence you came.

What amtrak station is close to the Shoreline? And if I left close to 6am from LA what time would I get there?

Devin the Dude
08-05-2009, 12:46 PM
Ice Cube is pretty much the main event at this shit. Busta Rhymes will be epic as well. but i understand missing this for an Ice Cube headlining show. i probably would.

set times are up for denver, la and san fran.

the la times are decent. special guest slated just after big boi and big boi only gets 40 mins....special guest andre 3000 for a quick outkast set?? one can hope....

woogie846
08-05-2009, 06:37 PM
I would think that an Outkast set would be too big of a name to pass up, speaking in terms of publicity.

I still have to decide between this and Nels Cline...

so.........how was it? Make me jealous for going to HARD and missing my 3rd favorite MC of all time Ice Cube and my 4th favorite Nas (even though I've seen him before)

sin213

it was excellent, despite being a poorly run festival. there were sound issues on the main stage where the lead mic would disappear and they couldn't get it back on very quickly and some of the stage times changed without notice, so i missed most of House Of Pain. I did hear Jump Around, though, so that was good.

Busta killed it!! He was my fav of the weekend. Big Boi was amazing and played a handful of OutKast songs like Ms Jackson, Rosa Parks, The Way You Move. Roots were also great, though sound issues plauged their set. they were supposed to have an hour, but only got 30 mins or so because they couldn't get everything set up right. Ice Cube was pretty good. RZA was excellent. I saw pretty much everything I wanted to see and a couple that I wanted to see but didn't plan on seeing, but was able to see because of set time changes like Sage Francis. Reflections Eternal was good too, though they weren't scheduled to be there originally...i don't think.

OH...and the special guest was SLICK RICK. He came out and did a bunch of covers for about 20 mins.

All in all, a great show. They just need to learn how to organize and execute a festival better than they do...i've been to two RTB shows so far and both were poorly run.

My Favs:
1. Busta
2. Big Boi
3. The Roots
4. Ice Cube
5. RZA
6. Talib Kweli (Reflections Eternal)
7. Sage Francis
8. House of Pain

WhyTheLongFace

sin213

a little of both. he did "la di da di" in its original form, even though most of the people were singin the snoop lyrics...

08-10-2009, 04:54 PM
Nice. So Busta killed it, hugh? It seems like he would have a hard time keepin it tight live because his lyrics are so fast. Did he do Gimme Some More?

i believe so...i was pretty messed up by then...he was incredibly tight live. and he brought energy to the stage and really got everyone going.
