View Full Version : Your Thoughts on Who Will Replace the Beastie Boys in Each of the Festivals

I know there are individual festival threads but I like the idea of condensing everyone's ideas, thoughts, rumors, etc. into one thread.
So the festivals in question are:
All Points West
Osheaga Music & Arts
Lollapalooza
Outside Lands
Austin City Limits
San Diego Street Scene
I'm just wondering if the festivals will wait to see who one of the other festivals book and try to get them or maybe book 2 smaller acts as a co-headliner or maybe push up someone into a headlining position that may or may not be ready.
Just curious what everyone thinks.

tool would be an uprade from beastie boys
but don't forget Jay Z, I'm sure he'd jump at the opportunity.
wouldnt be surprised to see something lame like Black Eyed Peas. Also, I'd say Eminem, but the way Voodoo fest publicizes howthey have his only festival performance of the year means he probably has it written into his contract.
edit: tchy, i hope they listen to your coach 2010 suggestions

Maybe at some festivals, but not at Outside Lands. He was one of the headliners there last year.

Trents not done so NIN is the obvious replacement act. At least at Lolla.

All Points West : need to find someone quickly!!
Osheaga Music & Arts: ???
Lollapalooza: no addition... they have enough
Outside Lands: Tool, Metallica, or Neil young
Austin City Limits: lower level headliner.. they have KOL already
San Diego Street Scene: ???

ACL will probably move Thievery Corporation into the Beasties spot and grab a lower level act. More than likely a local band.

Outside Lands: Tool, Metallica, or Neil young
This is a very good call...especially since Metallica and Neil live local to the bay area, or at least have homes there.
And Outside Lands is right smack between the end of Metallica's European tour and the start of the next leg of their US tour. Tool has nothing announced past their 8/22 Pomona date as well.
Great post, scoop.

APW: Muse, Killers, Kings of Leon, Wilco or Pearl Jam.
They all start touring the week after (idk about pearl jam) and are sort of near the east coast (in KoL's case they're in NY that day). I think anything else would either be a major surprise, pushing the YYYs up and getting more mid-tiers or moving Tool into 2-days.

told ya so. He played a one day show/festival thing here in Tucson and from what I hear her wasn't too bad. (note: he played with 3rd eye blind, kelly clarkson and the veronicas...fucking bizarre)

well it pretty much is... isn't? I mean did they say "first ever"?
the "Last Blast Platinum Smash" (that's how it was billed) was hardly a 'festival'.
infact it lost the university of arizona 250,000 dollars.

Jay-Z was at Pemberton last year. So I guess technicaly APW may be his first US festival appearance, but Canada got his first North American festival performance. Also, I would love to see Jay-Z again. I don't listen to his music, but he is awesome live.
