I NEED them to play because I don't think I can get someone to come to Coachella unless they play.

Then this "someone" is someone who doesn't belong at coachella in the first place.

In case you've forgotten, it was Radiohead that made many of us come out to this festival in the first place.

It was the Pixies for me. The frozen lemonade makes me come back each year.

I would hope this is not the case.

But fair enough. I wouldn't know about this festival if it wasn't for RATM.

Radiohead made me come, but it was the whole experience of 2004 that made me come back in 2005 because I just had to catch both days and explore more. Funny how in retrospect that if it weren't for Radiohead, I doubt I would have ever risked potential death (horrible allergies and asthma plus being allergic to everything in the polo fields = my allergist would have me committed if I still had insurance and went to one) to find my way to Coachella until 2008 for Portishead. But then I would have just gone the second day, and ended up regretting it and coming back all three days in 2009.

Triple Combo of Scissor Sisters, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Franz Ferdinand made me buy my ticket in 2006. Them adding Kanye and Daft Punk was extra frosting for me

If I were a Coachella virgin back then, I would have been tempted in 2006 for Massive Attack but a couple weeks after the lineup they announced a Hollywood Bowl show. Didn't give a fuck about Daft Punk until I actually saw them. So I owe getting into so much amazing music and life-changing experiences over the years all to Radiohead playing in 2004, come to think of it.

i went out to coachella 08 and bought presale tickets before the lineup was even announced. i had heard all about coachella 2002 from an old roommate out in colorado (he loved Bjork and the Chemical Brothers) and decided i need to make it out sometime. Got a fire lit under my ass after i went to Vegoose '07 and it reminded me that i needed to head down to coachella.

Rage against the machine, is what got me to buy tickets, went in 2007, and keeping going every year, can't wait for this years...

Not to metion the cool people you meet and the campgrounds, I love walking the campgrounds fucked up, it's great, coachella I look forward to you, right as I leave the grounds...

FACT. Having gone to Coachella 01,02,03...they seemed like private parties compared to when Radiohead played in 2004. Coachella owns its existense to 2 bands....Jane's and Radiohead....Jane's for bringing it back from the dead and Radiohead for putting it on the map...

whoa whoa....so you have only gone to 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009? Did you go to all days 2008?

Damn, and to think I just wanted to see what all the commotion was in my backyard in 2004. Can't even recall who I saw, but it was what I felt that brought me back in 2005...2006...2007...2008...2009.

Of course I've gone 06-07 and all days 08. I am saying if it weren't for Radiohead making me go to Coachella 2004, I doubt I would have ever made it to Coachella until 2008. I would have just been like "oh wow, that's a lot of cool bands, I kinda wish I could go" and then carry on about my business without even looking into the logistics of attending.

funny... '04 was the only year i had no interest in going...

except for The Pixies/Kraftwerk it was the worst lineup Coachella's had (except for '01, which shouldn't really count).

They didn't offer that service to the general public that year. Do you know Paul Tollet or something?

just for the record, radiohead had nothing to do with my coming to coachella. and this board DOES have a disproportionate love affair with RH. they're not loved and revered the world over.

ok so my memory is hazy and the presale was after the lineup was announced. but i fondly remember typing in "DESERT" for my code. And to answer your question- I "kinda" know Paul Tollet. He and his wife were rubbing shoulders with me at MSTRKRFT's lackluster set this year.

I'd always wanted to go to Coachella since I first learned about it. In 2006 I finally was able to purchase a ticket. That year the band I was looking forward to the most was Dungen. So, yeah, I owe all my current obsessions to Dungen. Without Dungen, I wouldn't like anything.

no, they're really not. this board has a higher per-capita radiohead stroking ratio than any other community, save for ones specifically catering to RH fans

FrozenPilgrim, you're simply wrong about that. Radiohead are a cliche for hip, indie-snob friendly music. This board is a product of that, not a just a cause. People go crazy for Radiohead. irl and internets

Go to a Muse video on YouTube and you'll see the Radiohead doucheness has nothing to do with this board - it's a nerd thing not a Coachella thing

Yeah, I remember the DESERT password, that was post-lineup. So, even Paul Tollet didn't watch The Killers? Did he seem to be enjoying MSTRKRFT's puke-inducing set?

Coachella is a toss-up for me this year until I see the lineup..but bring Radiohead and I'm there regardless of who else is on the bill in 2010.<3

Not true at all.
