so autechre covered this lfo song and then lfo remixed the cover of their own song? awesome.

i think lfo remixed their own song and then autechre covered it. finally we'll be able to hear the complete version of boc - seven forty seven.

i'm still on the fence. $145 is a lot of money for this boxset. the tracklisting is kinda disappointing. the booklet is really cool though.

I was just noticing neither Battles nor Grizzly Bear are on the cover album.

How amazing would it have been if Grizzly Bear attempted a Battles cover? Rainbow would have been fucking incredible. Ddiamondd would have been entertaining as well.

hmmmm...i'm not sure i agree with that as a whole. The last new one they played was unbelievable, but the other two (i think two) were kinda messy. I'm sure they'll bring down the mathrock thunder when the album comes out though. The jumping craziness during Atlas was a good time.

Pivot is awesome and they need more press.

Flying Lotus was fucking sick and threw in a bit of Come On My Selector.

!!! was meh. I only really like Myth Takes and I only really seemed to like the songs they played from that album save for one or two. Nic Offer did spirit fingers and jazz hands.

yeah, i wanted to get it mostly for the booklet. the tracklisting in general wasn't too exciting to make me spend that much money.

i can't tell if that born ruffians cover of milkman/to cure a weaking child is intended as a joke or not. still sounds really bad.

Does anyone have any Jamie Lidell recommendations?

bmack86
10-06-2009, 06:46 PM
He has 3 albums. Don't get the first one. Start with Multiply, then go to Jim. Multiply is the transitional release, where he was doing electronic stuff to make soul. Jim is just soul, and it's soulful as hell.

After listening to it twice, I completely love the Aphex cover. The only thing about the tracklist for the whole set that I don't like, is that I expected more out of Warp fans than essentially what was like a singles collection (for Chosen). Disc two is way better, I'd say. But my comment made it into the 'poster' so that's cool.

As for Jamie Lidell, I would say all of his albums are great, but I would imagine if you knew only the soul side you wouldn't want the first one. But, Daddy's Car is one of my favorite tracks of his. But that's in the box set, so you probably don't need the album.
