yes, yes i do... which is why i'm excited that promoters are FINALLY booking this shit...

another year of decade-stale Insomniac trance or Ed Banger shit, and i was gonna give up on the whole scene...

Electro & Dubstep & Fidget are finally getting the respect it deserves! The shit that's been coming out the last three years is some of the best EDM i've ever heard

Damn nothing too exciting announced yet besides the dubstep & foamo, not worth dealing with the crowd that will be there yet still need to see more added. Insomniac has been releasing the line ups late as hell for the last little while. I remember the days where you would have a full line up like 3 months before the party, and now you're lucky if you get the full line up a month and half before the event.

chairmenmeow47

i don't remember ever getting a nocturnal lineup 3 months in advance. nocturnal specifically ALWAYS has their lineup out late.

I really hope they bring the dnb. Pendulum is weak shit. I recently ran into an old school junglist friend from AZ out here in Cali and we plan to hit this party up unless the lineup blows - but it's Insomniac, they will bring something worthwhile.

With better headliners, this would be really good....

old house v. dubstep v. dnb v. french electro....i dont get it

its lineups like this that make me want to go back to HARD events, even if they dont ever really start

What's not to get?? it's called diversity, diversity pulls crowds. There's gonna be so many people at the dnb and dubstep stages. They're bringing in pioneers from 5 different sub-genres of electronic music... 6 if you count C.L. as psy-trance... Hard will never get another dollar from me, but it's shows like this that make me wanna take another trip down south...

Feadz should be dope, i have never seen him but think he would put on a good show. There is no MUST see on this line up for me, i guess Roni Size would be the only one, so i will most likely just be going to whatever sounds good at that moment. Should be fun though, Nocturnal & EDC are always fun because EVERYONE goes to them so you run into a lot of people you know.

Planet of the Drums is a fucking riot... probably within the top 7 shows of my life...they bring it hard.

and skream is bonkers... hopefully he doesn't get too fucked up like when i saw him. (apparently he gets way fucked at all shows) But he's killerrrrrr.... he was playing some oooold school jungle towards the end of the show, i was going wild.

roni size is gonna be sick! dynamite mc is dope too... that'll be a don't miss.

I have just seen planet of the drums to many times so i can't really get excited about it. My must sees are Roni Size, Green Velvet, Skream and TC. Other than that it will be whatever i'm feeling, maybe catch some Feadz or Foamo or some Laidback Luke or Dirty South and if i feel like some jungle that entire line up is good so i know i will like whatever is on at the time.

Lets hope the big top tent is ventilated a little better this year so it's not dripping accumulated sweat down on everyone from the ceiling. I watched Digitalism from right outside the back entrance to the tent for that reason.

yeah... db has got that darker, dirtier, his version of dnb... but when they're all together it's pretty nuts ak and dara are much more of the jungle/dnb style.. but db was playing some more intense tracks when i saw POTD...

yeah, db played at this rave up here in sac back in january (only for 20 min. before it got shut down... so lovely!) and it was really fun... maybe it was the fact that potd was @ the mighty in sf and the sound there is on point everytime i've gone... not to mention, it was so loud it was the first show in my life where i've seriously felt the need for earplugs but still, very crisp sound... which is so essential for dnb..

Almost the entire D'n'B line up is great as long as you like all styles of jungle, TC is great if you like jump up. Green Velvet is going to be a great set as well, and if you like House Laidback Luke and Dirty South are pretty good producers but i have never caught any of either of their sets. DJ Dan & Donald Glaud's 2x4 sets are always good sets in my opinion. Skream, Rusko and Benga are all dubstep and i hear Foamo does electro & dubstep but have never caught him either. Treasure Fingers is going to kill it as well, i am catching that set for sure.

i can't speak for Planet of the Drums together live, i just like AK1200 tracks.. and Dara. I've liked what i've heard of Dieselboy's new stuff though.. due to Insomniacs usual conflicts, this will be the first time i get to see them all together (hopefully, barring any Rusko conflict and/or Skream/Benga conflict)..

last year i had a ticket for Nocturnal.. ONLY wanting to see Infected Mushroom, Planet of the Drums, Digitalism (live), and Deep Dish.. and guess what, all four played simultaneously.. Boooo

that's why i'm not EVEN going to listen and get into the other acts on the other stages... don't want my heart broken (and i know i'm gonna be catching Glitch Mob the weekend before..)

Here's hoping for Rabbit in the Moon during Roni Size!!! and ZERO conflicts, so i can just chill at the Dubstep & DnB stages..

That's what i've been saying the whole time, for $60 at HARD you get 2 stages and about 20 artist if that. At insomniac parties you can pay as low as $35 for your ticket and look what you get. The Dubstep will be in the dome shaped building, the drum & bass will be in the building to the right of it and the stage with RITM will be in the one just below that.

I saw Falcon this past October when he did a set with Busy-P at LAX in Hollywood and he was really sick...they had a dj battle kinda deal going against DJ AM and JFK from MSTRKRFT after they were all in town for HARD HM.

Actually got to talk to him for a few minutes at the bar also... really nice, normal guy.

Oh shit i actually found his set from that night online...

Anyone know why Tiesto hasnt been at any big festivals in LA recently? I know he's done the Vanguard and other club scenes in socal over the past few years but i cant remember him headlining an Insomniac or GoVenture event....

Although Im not a big fan of trance, compared to AVB and PVD, Tiesto is a fucking god. I give him credit too for introducing me to the genre of EDM so i guess im a little biased

I am the same way. Tiesto has that kind of effect on many people that are into dance music and aren't originally from europe. He opens the door, and we get to see the great genre of dance music. And no matter what the haters say, there is NO denying that he puts on the best performances I've ever witnessed, it's like watching a theaterical play. I wished that the electro/house scene was the same way as it was a couple years ago in los angeles. With the "big name" dj's always in town to hollywood and making special appearences almost on a weekly basis...those were the days... I'm not saying that they have stopped showing up entirely, but they are fewer than in the past.

If you look at my original post i was just saying that I like Tiesto more then PVD and AVB and was wondering if anyone knew why he hadnt headlined a major festival in LA lately. At a major festival, trance is a given and Id rather see him then PVD for the 5th time of AVB for the 3rd.

I saw Tiesto last year on the opening night at Privilege in Ibiza and consider it one of the best sets ive ever seen. You go to a show like that in a location as spectacular as Ibiza and I guarantee it'll change your perception of any artist

truth. People like talking shit about Tiesto because to admit liking Tiesto is like admitting to love Benny Benassi. He's hyped, well-known mainstream EDM but amazing and irreplaceable, so get over it.

did you see him at EDC? totally turned me against Benny. i recall actually being bored during his set. the point i am trying to make here is that you can ask any 13 year old kid walking down the street if they like Benny Benassi and they will tell you "yes, he's the bomb." :rolleyes

the point is, dj sets are like that.

a dj can blow you away one day, and the next leave you feeling underwhelmed.

a lot depends on the crowd, venue, night of the week, city, how fucked up the dj is, how fucked up you are, the sound system, etc. etc. etc.

you have a point. but the thing is EDC was like my 2nd, 3rd rave. i was a newb with sky-high expectations for Benny Benassi, who broke my heart.
i don't think i will ever get over it until i see BB again & he redeems himself.

I have caught some pretty bad ass Benny sets, one of the coolest thing i've ever seen at an EDM event was at Ultra when he closed out the weekend and ended it with his Red Hot Chilli Peppers remix and the entire crowd singing it was louder than the sound system. I haven't seen him spin within the last year or so i couldn't say anything about his current sets, but i have caught some great ones from him.

Distorted_Jungle

Yes i will agree, i was just referring to the crowds reaction to the song and how loud it got that was the cool part. His Bowie vs. Alex Gopher track is his thing right now, it will probably replace his PE-Bring the noise remix that has been in every one of his sets for the last year.

I saw him at EDC last year, Ultra, and EDC this year and its not that he sucks, it just that he plays the SAME songs every time. Yea he has great songs like the rhcp remix but he plays that, "Im a DJ," "Touring in NY" and "I Love My Sex" every fucking set and it gets old...

And although his set at EDC was pretty weak, I still consider him dropping WARP as the highlight of the entire 2 days....seeing 50,000 people on the football field of the Coliseum goin nuts to some Bloody Beetroots was unreal

Benny does not suck in my opinion, I love him for my own reasons. Theirs nothing better than seeing him in a real intimate setting such as the Vanguard or GIANT. But, about the DJ Dan and Donald Glaude 2x4 set. I know last year they did a In Stero tour where they played Live in a 2x4 setting, maybe just a continuation...?

DJ Dan & Donald Glaud 2x4 sets are awesome in my opinion, 2 great DJs spinning at the same time. Also they can mix more tracks at once than normal, sampling different things and what not.
