So my for my girlfriends birthday she has asked me to take her tandem skydiving. We live locally in South Orange County, California, and I was wondering if any of you have had an opportunity to tandem skydive as well.

We don't take kindly to sky-fallers in these parts, sir. Please talk about your sins elsewhere.

interlaken, switzerland...surrounded by the swiss alps! hopped in a van to the jump site, the instructors pulled a couple prepacked chutes out of the back and we went up. maybe 2 minutes of instruction before we jumped. it was nuts...a bit of weed and shot of jager afterwords to celebrate.

most amazing experience! i had the biggest shit-eating grin once we landed, it lasted well into the night.
the next day we went white water rafting there with a bunch of crazy kiwi's down class 3 and 4 rapids. the 2 most extreme days of my life.

I went sky diving a little north of Santa Barbara near Lompoc. Saw all sorts of different level divers there. Skydivesantabarbara.com

Yeah, I did it maybe 10 years ago and I thought it was great. Loved every minute of it and would do it again if I had the spare $. The silence after you pull the shoot is one of the best sounds ever. Do it. Ya might die, ya probably won't.

I'd highly recommend NOT tandem skydiving - you can do a high-altitude solo jump that's a lot more fun after taking a short course, and you control the chute yourself. Of course, you have to trust your ability to not die, but it's > tandem.
