Sucks missing Of Montreal, but I've seen them 4 times. Oh well.

Of Montreal kick ass and at least their not charging insane amount of money to see them live!

And they have a million more onstage props/production values than gorillaz do.

I'll try for some Oakland, see the pricing and everything. If I pull in the first few rows, I'll bite the bullet. Still wish it was GA :(

I'm still not sure if I should take pit if I get it, or hope for seats.

Posted yesterday on Aaron Axelson's facebook page

GORILLAZ! headlining day 2 of our SUBSONIC/LIVE105 HALLOWEEN PARTY on 10/30.... Day 1 is 10/29 and TBA

Gorillaz on 10/30 is common knowledge yes, but not packaged as a part of the Spookfest(s). is is about time to start guessing at who will be at either show. Im no good at that game. The way it's worded makes it seems like a few bands will be part of the Gorillaz show. It'd be cool if they did a discounted deal if you bought tickets for both nights.

I guess BigBryan never posted this info here.

I couldn't get my presale password to work unto 10:05 even though the page was up, NEVER got pit tickets offered to me, so I ended up with 20th row center section. The only thing closer was 7th row far left, but I want to be in the middle. Ugh. Should be decent seats though, far back enough to see everything. Kind of disappointed I didn't get anything up that was closer.

sin213
08-02-2010, 09:21 AM
yeah...kinda why i didn't mess with presale. that and the fact its only good for one show.

Mr. Dylanja

so I ended up with 20th row center section.

That's where I saw Jay-ZZZ from, it will be good for Gorillazzz.

darksideofkaos.
08-02-2010, 09:41 AM
So basically... I spent an extra $45 to get offered seats in the back of the loge and seats on the far ends of the orchestra. Not a single fucking pit or centered orchestra ticket popped up unless you wanted to do the flip camera package which is $350 or the premium package for $250... I love the Gorillaz but they will never be worth that much to me.

rage patton
08-02-2010, 09:43 AM
This is good information. I was thinking if I was going to go, I might as well spend the extra money on the fan club to get some good seated tickets. However, it looks like the fan club doesnt even get this luxury.

ErikFlyingV

brokenDREAMS
08-02-2010, 09:59 AM
Was able to score orch 7 row gg for the gibson show! I checked some other price ranges and this is what came up:

$125 - Loge 16 row f
$85 - Loge 20 row e
$65 - mezz 29 row c.

Really pricey show but should be worth it. If they add a second date at the gibson, I feel as though it would be easier getting pit tickets to that one with less people being able to afford two shows...

darksideofkaos.
08-02-2010, 10:06 AM
At the moment I feel like I've been violated by the Gorillaz. $125 tickets, $45 fan club. I've only done a fan club presale one time before this and the tickets that came out were amazing something like 12th row center... But this on the other hand...

The Orchestra seats for the Gibson show that are popping up have been the same ones that have been popping up since 10:15... The other problem was for the first 5 minutes of the onsale I was continuously getting "sorry no tickets available." It's pretty fucked up when your fanclub presale deals out shitty seats and to get good seats your making you fans either double or triple the regular tickets prices. Hey... pay an extra $45 so you can pay and extra $200 to get a good seat.

Some interesting stuff from unofficial:

Gorillaz fan BBoldt has been in touch with Del The Funky Homosapien, rapper on the album version of Clint Eastwood (through Del's official facebook here) (see a screen grab of the correspondence here). Del said that he was going to do the tour but now is not going to because 'some things changed on their end' (previously, a contact at Del's official website told another fan that the Gorillaz tour had gone through a budget revision, forcing Del's appearances to be axed). However Del said he still might play the Oakland, California date on October 30th.

Del has never performed Clint Eastwood live with Gorillaz, though he has performed it many times as part of his own live sets.

Gorillaz fan darkglobe contacted Miho Hatori (guest backing vocals on many tracks on Gorillaz' debut album, including most notably 19/2000) asking if she would be willing to make a guest appearance on a date or dates of Gorillaz' North American tour (Miho is local to NYC). She replied "Yeah, I am willing to do that. I love those songs very much. But it really depends on Damon's decision... Maybe if Gorillaz fans make some noise, he might consider..."

Gorillaz fan Zedzilla has set up a Facebook group to coordinate the campaign HERE (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=139213292776991&ref=ts) so if you are on Facebook, sign up and show your support, spread the message to other Gorillaz and music fans you know. The more people that back the campaign the more chance it has of being taken seriously!

JustSteve
08-02-2010, 11:15 AM
most times it seems it is not even worth signing up for a fanclub early because there is usually the option to just bundle it with the ticket purchase at the onsale date, like today. then if you don't pull any seats you deem worthy you just bail and save the cash.

I think I'm done with this LA date... I'd rather spend my money on Massive Attack since they both go onsale at the same time. I'm just pissed at how this fanclub shit worked and the fact that Oakland even has a shot at getting a Del performance is incredible. I doubt it will happen considering Del will drop out and say he was never asked but it would be amazing if it did happen.

I wonder that too. very interested to see what it was like backstage after glastonbury. I can't quite imagine snoop dog, lou reed and shaun ryder shooting the shit.

maybe they do travel separately, which would explain the high ticket prices and why they can't afford Del.

piggy backing on that other "bring them on tour with the Gorillaz." Here's a FB group for Del.

I don't hold out much hope for him going on tour with them. But for the Oakland show, the Live 105 Spookfest connection is interesting. I know Live 105 has booked Hiero and Del for shows (ok maybe only ONE show that I know of) in the past and unless he's touring in Oct. it would seem simple enough to book him as well. Hell anyone else down to see a solo Del set in addition to a headlining Gorillaz at Spookfest?

tigermilkboy
08-05-2010, 06:23 AM
This Gorillaz tour could easily get curtailed in some way. Too many dates and tickets are priced too high. If Muse can fill arenas and have a high production show for around $50-60, then that should be prices for Gorillaz.
$140 for a half decent floor seat in LA and NY is too much. Boston had 3rd row tickets for over 2 days, Detroit still has Pits.
If you want great seats for cost then wait till they drop the package seats back in to general inventory. It is these "VIP" packages that are most annoying. $350 for a camera, some stickers and a laminate-are these packages geared to 14 year olds? At 30+ I don't want band tee's, stickers or a laminate-what is the actual use or value of a laminate?

shakermaker113
08-05-2010, 07:31 AM

when they played it at glastonbury I barely even recognized it at first. it sounds awesome live. it was a little sad, however, when Damon tried to get the audience to sing along and nobody sang a word. he had the words up there like karaoke, but still... people don't sing along to songs they don't know. Presales that require you to be a holder of a certain card, often days before the real presale. Special seating only available with certain cards (like here)

Okay, you definitely know what to expect--disregard the word of caution.

I couldn't even touch the floor last time I saw Pantera (that was a powerful show), since everyone was so crushed together. My shoes, which were originally light brown, were covered in black by the time they ended.

I know it's early, but I'm trying to think up excuses for taking my girls out of choir rehearsal early the evening of the Gorillaz show. I have assigned seats though, no reason to be there super early. I'm still waiting on who the opener will be to decide if I want to take them out early. The choir is REALLY STRICT about excuses for missing rehearsals, so I thought maybe if I explained that it's a musical experience they'll be taking part in, it'll be ok. :) I would only want to leave a half hour early from a 2 hour rehearsal.

I might try the family emergency, but I'm generally a really honest person, honest to a fault I guess. I don't want to lie about stuff and I'm lousy at it anyway.

Also, they CAN kick my kids out of the choir if they miss too many rehearsals regardless of how much money I pay them. I want to save the absent days for actual sickness since the kids will probably catch a cold at least once during the fall. My younger girl missed 2 days last fall because she caught some kind of bug, it went away and then came back the next week.

Look, I be slapping 40 and Cam'ron half the time over here, I live in Richmond, CA, you dig? I'm not sayin I'm closed minded, but my lifestyle kinda demands more aggressive sounds. "I recorded an awful lot of music for this record, about 80 pieces of music in total," he explained. "So, theoretically there is a part two and part three of 'Plastic Beach' if we ever felt motivated to spend another few years finishing it."

He added: "But because it's so eclectic, it takes a long time to actually get a picture because we don't start with a picture or an idea. We start with a very loose idea of 'Plastic Beach', which, you know, probably means something different to me than it does to Jamie [Hewlett], but we evolve."

don't know. they're touring with them, so probably just as gorillaz songs and then playing solo shows on off-nights.

Fuck. That.

This band is a joke.

At first I was upset that I couldn't see Gorillaz in Dallas on my birthday due to location change. But 90 bucks for shit seats? Bahahahahahaha.

Except for Chicago, at least.

Eh, I still am not spending the obscene amount they want for tickets to this. I hope there are little dragon solo dates everywhere.

Windish now has them listed as available for a headlining tour in January instead of September-October. Aaaaah, won't be in the country for much of January.

hey, all you subdivision members, was it worth it? or should i just be on the ball for the normal onsale?

I ended up going the subdivision route and I'm glad I did- 5th row on the floor. the floors were exclusively for subdivision/premium/flip package buyers

I bought floor tickets for the TO show through the MLSE presale which was a public presale. I'm 17th row, but still.

apparently they announced the following as the guests for the australian leg of the tour:

De La Soul, Bobby Womack, Bootie Brown, Little Dragon, Rosie Wilson, the Syrian National Orchestra of Arabic Music and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will play the shows. The full Gorillaz band and backing singers will of course also be present, as will the string section.

I suppose we can expect something similar for the US. no Mos Def, sad.

Yeah, we're definitely not getting Mos Def.

that list for Australia isn't givin me hope either. basically the same group that were at coachella, sans the Hypnotic Bass. very underwhelming for the price i paid. was hopin we'd at least get to see Kano/Bashy or Snoop showin up at some shows outside Europe. mos was kind of a long shot...

Phantasma Del Mar
08-19-2010, 08:32 AM
If Kano & Bashy aren't gonna be there than what's the point in bringing the Syrian National Orchestra? At that point drop White Flag from the setlist and play something else.

What shows has mos def actually played?

He was supposed to be at coachella but Xenu escaped from his volcano. And then Glasto, but what was it...a family emergency?

Yeah, why keep White Flag. Drop that and throw in Demon Days. It baffles me that they don't play that as a main set closer, or middle song in the encore

What songs does Bootie Brown guest on? At least it looks like Dare will be a tour staple.

shakermaker113

bootie brown is on dirty harry. he has also been known to step in for mos def on stylo.

i really hope brown doesn't do mos' stylo part at US shows. he was horrible on the vid i saw of him doing that part.

so i bit the bullet and got some cheap seats for the SD show. the crazy part is that it looks like theyre playing the half house setup there, meaning they stick the stage in the middle and close off the back half of the arena. that arena is already pretty small to start with too, so this should be a relatively intimate show, even though its an arena. my shitty seats are up at the top to the side of the stage, but whatever, hopefully i can sneak down into some better ones. i cant see the pricey ones selling out.

I love the orchestral part on White Flag. I want them to keep it (even without Kano and Bashy, although they would definitely be welcome).

so kano made some ambiguous and confusing comments about touring with gorillaz.

Any plans to work with them in the future?
Well, the future thing is the tour. We did a few shows lately, we did a couple shows in the middle east two weeks ago we done Beirut and played in Syria. That was crazy! We’re gonna tour the UK in November, but they’re doing a world tour and I’m gonna be part of that. They’re doing Australia, America. They’re playing Madison Square Garden, you know big shows…it’s gonna be a massive show I’m gonna be a part of that.

Is the U.S. Somewhere you are looking to expand your musical presence?
It definitely is and there is a time for that. Up until this point I always felt that I’m trying to establish myself at home, I’ve got a few albums out now but it wasn’t something I was interested in from the first album like “yeah I’m gonna go over to America and conquer it and blah blah” none of that! that’s not what I was really about. Now I’ve got a few albums under my belt–this is my fourth album–I can go to America. I’ve got material. I’m willing to see what people think. Maybe hook up with some people I know over there. I know some great people over there, like Mos Def and people like that. Yeah maybe there is room for me to go over there and do that but up until this point I never felt that it’s been the main goal. But now especially with the Gorillaz tour it’s definitely a great platform.

What can people expect to hear from you in let’s say the next year?
Well after the album drops on the 30th. In September and October I’ll be touring the UK, I got the Gorillaz tour and then [I'm] recording another album because I think I kept people waiting quite long for this one. I took two years to record this album, I wanna get straight back into recording maybe I’ll record on the road. Just put out some more music. I’m gonna be out n about a lot but just try to get in the studio and put out some music hopefully next year.

http://www.thecouchsessions.com/2010/08/interview-kano/

his "but they are doing a world tour and I am gonna be a part of that" is especially confusing.

Those horns kicking in during Welcome just gave me chills and made me mad at that damn volcano all over again.

Holy cow. Mos Def is soooooo off-key during most of Sweepstakes. As in painfully so. Hmmm I know it'd be nice to have him there, but maybe Damon knows what he's doing...
