I did a search for an existing thread about the Grizzly Bear tour, but I didn't find one. So don't go into hysterics if this discussion is old hat.

Who else is bloody excited about the upcoming Grizzly Bear tour? It'll be my first time seeing them. Can't wait!

And, how lovely was this performance at BAM with the Brooklyn Phil?

We do have a thread, but I'll welcome another. I was at the LA show at the Walt Disney. They are quite an amazing band. I've got tickets to LA and San Francisco, and I can't wait.

Extremely looking forward to their Wiltern show in June.....just really hoping that fuckheads in the audience don't talk the entire time.

They're surprisingly loud for such a subtle band.

I'm choosing them over Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Bonnaroo. Check out my avatar to see what a big deal that is.

What a cruel conflict. Seriously, wtf?

It happens. Just gotta adjust and move on. I'm seeing Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Sasquatch anyway.

But this thread is about Grizzly Bear! Don't wanna hijack this shit.

i luv how every hipster in the nation is proclaiming it to be the "album of the year" before it's even been released..

and by every hipster i mean every fukkin stinking breathing hipster (and even a couple dead ones who wrote their reviews & then died, all before the album drop date)

I would really, really like to hang out with Ed Droste for a bit.

I don't quite get all the hype about album-which-I-still-can't-spell, but Two Weeks has been in my head forever now, and it always makes me smile.

The Walt Disney show had the best audience at any concert I've been to.

He's very nice and down to earth.

See, that's what I'd have thought, and I'm glad.

His twitter is just a good-natured shower of lovelyness. He sent me a direct message once and it totally made my 2009. Sure, it's tragically lame to get a little giddy about internet communication with a celebrity, but it's nice when they're nice.

They're all very nice. They remembered me from booking a show in LA and when they saw me at Pitchfork (they were backstage watching Mastodon, I was front row), they came over afterwards to chat. love this band.

We'd have mugs of tea, and watch some daytime television together. Have a chat.

It'd be a lovely afternoon.

When was the last time they played live? Have they done any shows so far this year?

I'd love to see a recent setlist of their's with Veckatimest material... I'm still seriously considering going to the Wiltern, will see how satisfied/unsatisfied I am with their 1:15 hours at Bonnaroo the weekend before...

saw them at a church during SxSW. Very mellow show. I'm assuming the setting had something to do with that.

I wish I'd caught the Walt Disney concert. Did members of the LA Phil actually play with them?

Am I the only person in the Western Hemisphere who hasn't downloaded the new album? I'm actually going to wait for the official release so that I have the full quality and, frankly, so that I can support this band. This isn't a lecture on filesharing. I do my fair share of that to be certain. But, I don't know... music this rich, this soulful is such a rare thing. I feel obligated to support it in any way I can. It's probably much easier for me to hold off than it is for long time GB fans; I only really started listening to them last year.

No. The LA Phil played first and then Grizzly Bear came on after. That place should be their "go to" LA venue.

Just got my tickets to the June 19th show last night. I can't fucking wait :)

I'm digging the opening band, Here We Go Magic, as well. You guys should check them out.

Natelevmofuggaz, thanks for posting that. Here We Go Magic sounds lovely and warm and hypnotic. At least on that track. Looking forward to them as well now!

I live by the Emily Haines rule - I'll download, and then, if I like the album or the band enough, I'll find a way to pay for it.

Ed Droste is particularly good at guilting people into paying for discs, as it happens. I know a number of my friends all ran out and bought Dark Was The Night only after he mentioned that he'd done so. He's on the damn thing and still wanted to pay for it, so their consciences got the better of them.

Again, not trying to get preachy here at all. I do my fair share of file sharing. We all do. I just want to make sure that this particular band is able to make music this intensely lovely for as long as they please. I seriously cannot wait for this gig. This is soul music, people.
