This combines the thoughts behind a few other threads, but if you were Paul, how would you fill these five most critical spots.
Mainstage 6:30 - Usually goes to a hot, high energy band to get late arriving crowd immediately sucked in.
Outdoor @ Sunset - The ultimate chillout set...usually goes to day's best or most popular mellow act, and almost never conflicts with Mainstage 6:30 or Mainstage Subheadliner
Mainstage Subheadliner - the 8:30ish slot - Usually goes to second most highly regarded non-Dance act of day, and usually gets an extra 10-20 minutes.
Mainstage Headliner - Needs no explanation, but think pattern of last two years will hold...One absolute legend from pre 1980s, One beloved 1980s/early 90s act...One Super popular present day up-and-comer.
Here's my Dream line up for these slots...sorry to the U2 haters out there, but makes too much McCartneyish sense financially.
Friday
6:30 Mainstage - Deerhunter
Outdoor at Sunset - Elbow (National was my fav sunset show of last two years, these guys have similar mellow but epic mojo)
Mainstage Subheadliner - LCD Soundsystem (too big for Dance tent now)
Headliner - U2
Sahara Closer - !!!
Saturday
6:30 Mainstage - Outkast
Outdoor @ Sunset - Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
Mainstage Subheadliner - Amy Winehouse
Headliner - Arcade Fire or Lil' Wayne
Sahara Closer - Daft Punk
Sunday
6:30 Mainstage - Strokes
Outdoor @ Sunset - Sufjan Stevens
Mainstage Subheadliner - The Velvet Underground (Surviving members w/ Dean & Brita of Luna handling Sterling/Nico roles)
Headliner - David Bowie
Sahara Closer - The Knife
Curious what other people see/hope will play out.
