(who?)

Sunday - Los Campesinos
(fantastic, but not a "sunset" band imo)

How about...

Beirut
Sufjan Stevens
Bon Iver
The Decemberists
Andrew Bird
St. Vincent
Grizzly Bear

But its still way too early

It was crowded for Fleet Foxes this year. Everyone went straight from TV on the Radio over there.

As for the question, I say either Bat for Lashes or Dirty Projectors.

yea, The TV on the Radio -> Fleet Foxes exodus was quite large. Fleet Foxes had a pretty decent crowd.

as for Dirty Projectors and Bats for Lashes... I dont know if they are "big enough names" for the sunset spot. they seem like afternoon tent bands.

Beirut sunset would be perfect or would have I should say. Polaris would be ideal for 2010....

Yeah dude, I can see that. Either way, if they're on that poster next year, I'm pumped.

I was shocked he wasn't out there for sun set. I wanted him instead of Connor Oberst opening for Leonard Cohen.

It really was baffling. GV sort of dropped the ball on that one.

ZackQ

Not that Connor wasn't good, but Beirut killed in that tent. It was one of those moments when you realize one of your favorite bands has gotten way bigger than you ever thought they would.

yeah, Pete and Pete. Ive been watching the show the past week and I got a lil carried away with the intro song. There are a lot of guest appearances on that show. I never noticed as a kid. Great show tho!

Yeah, it was a good show and their album is great. I doubt they'll get together again (though a Miracle Legion reunion is probably likely one day (Polaris was a Miracle Legion side project that was the band minus one member)), but I know Mark Mulcahy still plays a few of those songs live, though he never seems to play outside of new england. The other two members were in Frank Black & the Catholics, but since they broke up I think both have retired from music.

But yeah, I'll second Polaris 2010.

Sufjan is just too big I think at this point. But he could still do it. It would be, what, his first performance in 3-4 years by then?

My vote is Grizzly Bear... I think it's a possibility.

And I won't lie, I would really love to see Feist on the Outdoor as well.

The Outdoor was incredibly packed this year for Leonard Cohen. But I saw some great acts there this year (Antony and the Johnsons, Drive By Truckers ), and I was able to get close or on the rail, no problem.

Sonic Youth should close it.
PJ Harvey should play before them.
Fugazi should play before them.
Pavement should play before them.
Wilco should play before them.
Blonde Redhead should play before them.
Sleater-Kinney should play before them.
Shellac should play before them.
Dinosaur Jr. should play before them.
Sebadoh should play before them.
Butthole surfers should play before them.
Unwound should play before them.

Grizzly Bear may play the Outdoor, but it's hard to believe they would close. Coheed on Saturday. Phoenix on Sunday. Let's bet.

Is the Outdoor Theater more special than the Main Stage Sunset? I mean Pixies, Yeah Yeah Yeahs (06), Sigur Ros, Air were all great sunset performances.

Anyhow with that said my personal choices are (which probably wont happen):
She & Him on Friday
the Dead Weather on Saturday
Sly & the Family Stone on Sunday

There's just something special about the Outdoor Stage at sunset. The palms trees, the mountains, its just an incredible setting in my opinion.

i.e. LT04MPhp6zk

with that said...

Friday: Grizzly Bear (I've been dreaming of it for MONTHS)
Saturday: Edward Sharpe
Sunday: Sly

pachucasunrise

Saturday: no one special, because I wanna see Edward Sharpe in the Mojave at sunset
Sunday: Jonsi

Im almost certain Jonsi will do it since Sigur Ros did sunset on main stage before.
His music just fits perfect with the time slot.
