Interpol frontman Paul Banks is readying a new solo album, which will be released under the moniker Julian Plenti.
The new album is titled 'Skyscraper', and is due out in the US August 4.

And, Interpol is recording the Follow up to OLTA
If you didn't already know.

I've got a gut feeling that this is going to suck.

Even if it does...we still have an Interpol album coming.

But, I hope it doesn't suck.

I think we kinda figured a new one was coming when they released a statement saying that they were going to record a new album.

Paul is obviously Interpol related.
It makes sense.

This is exciting for me. I still don't have the latest Interpol album but I like his voice and I'm interested in what he'll do solo. I think his vocals might end up overpowering everything else and end up being really annoying though. Speculation of course.

Yeah, I'll probably end up liking his solo effort more than most. I just don't see the failure in some albums that others see, I guess...thought Our Love to Admire was good at worst (Rest My Chemistry, No I in Threesome especially). Didn't see what was so great about Turn on the Bright Lights that Antics lacked...etc.

Uhhhh... I don't know why you posted this considering all of us already knew that you were going to post this post since like 2003. I mean, come on! I've only had backstage passes to seven Suprefan Benefit Concerts and am listed in the Suprefan Fanclub as a Triple-Platinum Member.

I actually think it's gonna be kinda cool if it stays in this direction.

Paul Banks is Julian Plenti is Julian Plenti Is...Skyscraper. That is, the lead singer of Interpol is preparing his debut solo album, which is called Julian Plenti Is...Skyscraper and credited to Julian Plenti, according to a Billboard report. The album is out August 4 on Matador, according to Matador's blog. So that means that 1/4 of Interpol is back on their old label.

Billboard says the record was "recorded recently, some of the songs were written more than ten years ago," and that it sounds "cocky" and "sexy". Based on a snippet streaming at the Julian Plenti website, it sounds like Interpol...meets Beirut. Goth-gypsy!

The Julian Plenti persona has been around for a while-- Banks used to perform as Plenti before Interpol existed. Also, Plenti got an engineering credit on Banks' "NARC" remix off 2005's special edition of Antics.

Anyone else liking this album? Pauls vocals are addicting. Mostly on the tracks Only If You Run, Skyscraper, and Unwind.

thought Our Love to Admire was good at worst (Rest My Chemistry, No I in Threesome especially).

Those were the standout tracks to me, too.
