Here's my 2010 prediction. Headlining one of the nights, and will cause just as much hatred and controversy as Jack Johnson and the Killers have the past two years, but nowhere near as bad:

QFT!

Sir David "RamJam" Rodigan would be legendary.

I would love to see what Magnetic Man would do to Coachella. GV, watch this vid if you haven't seen it.

http://www.coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24831

Eddie Vedder with The Doors would be a cool draw for the main. And Neil Young.

What about Outkast?

Also, John Digweed at night for two hours. Yep.

If any of those names are on the list I'm going for sure. Who am I kidding, I'm going no matter what...

If we have a Hip Hop headliner i'll get to leave early that day.

That's ridiculous. Do you have to see the headliner? There are 5 stages and a high amount of talented acts on the lineup every year. It is doubtful that there would be a lack of other entertaining shows at the same time as the headliner on the Coachella stage. Coachella as a festival is about celebrating the circle of music; the soundtrack of the planet at a certain space and time. Hip-hop has become a central part of that circle in the last decade. It is time for Coachella to incorporate the art, performance, and culture of hip-hop into the circle of Coachella on the mainstage, in a big way. Outkast made genre-changing music for a decade, pushed the envelope of production quality for music as a whole, and have a huge following among dedicated music fans. Jay-Z has become perhaps hip-hop's most legendary figure. He speaks for an entire culture, and has had an unprecedented influence in pushing hip hop as an business entity. He is the real American Gangster, an icon for a generation of individuals that have embraced hip hop as a way of life. Jay-Z is a powerful figure, an accomplished performer, and a man whose words speak to many. In anticipation of the flurry of ignorant remarks referring to gats, glocks, robbing liquor stores, Big Pimpin, Give it to Me, etc., I would like to extend you individuals an invitation to listen to the man's music before you generalize.

Gorillaz- New Album + Frankly they are overdue.

Daft Punk - New Album. Do you need it? Yeah. I need it too. It's good for you.

Bowie - Who else could follow Paul? Michael? Zepp?

Zepplin - Huge stretch here, but honestly you'd think they would throw down for their fans. Not just the Super Ultra Mega Rich fans who were at the O2.

Crookers - Becasue they F'ING killed it people. NasTy

Winehouse - Honestly, she would have been there if she could have and Paul T. will give her a second chance. Then we will have a 50/50 chance of her actually playing. :)

LCD Sounsystem - New Album + they should be back.

Arcade Fire - People won't shut up about it, and yeah they are probably due
back by 2010.

David Haselhoff - The ONLY gurantee on any of these lists

You know, with all this clamoring for Bowie, it makes me beg the question: Is he even that good live? I mean no disrespect to the man, but from what I hear he hates to tour and rarely does it. How good could a person be if their heart isn't in it?

Its REALLY hit and miss. When I saw him at Area2 it was rather meh. It could have been that I had really shitty seats and the crowd was meh as well, but when I think of the best shows I have ever been to his performance barely registers. But if you want to see when he is on, check out footage from his 50th Birthday concert. I also heard he killed on the Outside Tour with NIN in 1995. But Alot of fans hated it because he only performed things from Outside. I imagine that he would bring it because of Coachella. If he rarely performs now and is around acts that he loves (which is why Scott Walker and Arcade Fire are a must for chell 2010 if Bowie is to be lured out of hiding), he would do it with gusto. His 50th B DAY show had Frank Black, Robert Smith, Sonic Youth, Lou Reed and Billy Corgan with him. And the Outside tour was on because he loves NIN.

leeartlee raises a good point, actually.

I think most acts with a distaste for touring usually have a problem with all the shit associated with performing, rather than the actual performing bit though.

To this day Bowie's 1997 Earthling tour is one of my fave tours of all time, With Bowie you got to like the album he is touring with to really like that show..Most of those songs are played and the older songs picked are ones that flow with the newer songs, so IMO it really depends on how good the album is. I love Bowie

Bowie + Arcade Fire + Scott Walker + Lou Reed = Epic Bowie performance. See my post above yours MP.

I think if the line up is good then Bowie will do it. He could care less about the 2 million he has been supposedly offered.

EDIT: Add Eno to that list. Epichella for sure.

So wait, Bowie is all about the supporting lineup? Gosh, that seems like an easy enough fix for GV to get him.

Hmmm, talk about a disappointed crowd then. People are going to want hits, not a album promotion. Not that it will fucking matter. Once Bowie is booked for Coachella, the world will have completed its life cycle and the end of all suffering will come to pass.

I'm not saying its THAT easy. But it would help out a great deal. The Promoters are just not going to get Bowie out with money...its not that easy...

If Bowie is into the songs he is playing then its a good show...I don't think he likes just going out and playing "the hits". He would rather play the obscure parts of Low and Heroes..then play Let's Dance...too bad a lot of his fans don't understand that...

Well, to be completely honest, no, TG wasn't enough, but I would suggest Psychic TV for reasons besides it being a band fronted by a member of Throbbing Gristle. A lot of their music is very upbeat and danceable and their newer stuff has a rock/psychedelic edge that I think would go over well with people at the festival. Also, their stage setup would fit in with the visual art aspect of Coachella. Of course I'm interested in the band because of the TG connection, but it's not a totally selfish statement: I think a bunch of people attending would have a great time watching them perform

She is right Feather. Up until about a year ago Burial's identity was a total secret at his request. Speculation was rampant about who he was. Everyone from Aphex Twin to Thom Yorke was mentioned as a possible identity. It turns out he's just a really shy nobody in London who doesn't DJ or play live.

When I have heard Jay-Z's music I have always wanted to change radio stations really quickly. I have nothing against the man personally, I just really don't have any interest in hearing him. I did enjoy some of the earlier hip-hop/rap artists from the late 80s/early 90s. However, the commercialization of hip-hop, and the subsequent takeover of MTV and KIIS-FM left a bad taste in my mouth. Any time some genre of music becomes the only thing on, it becomes very stale very quickly. That being said, I would not mind seeing Outkast, as I do think he is very talented.

Seems like I only see the headliners about 25% of the time, if that, since there is so much going on at night.

However, some bands tend to bring out a certain type of crowd, which can make the experience less pleasant. For example, the bros sure turned out for the Killers! I didn't mind the RATM or Tool crowd, although there were complaints. Then, for Madonna, half the crowd left after her set.

Wayne has since attempted backpedaling from those comments. By all means they should play the same festival. I'd like to see Arcade Fire blow the Flaming Lips out of the water.

I haven't seen Dylan but apparently his voice is shot.

Haha I didn't even think of that... Make it happen Goldenvoice, make. it. Happen. I wanna see them play the same night, back to back. It would be a slap in the face to whoever didnt get the headline

I had a friend who saw Dylan a couple years back and said his set list was absolutely epic (Sad eyed Lady of the Lowlands, Leopard Skin pill-box hat, Isis, Gates of Eden, etc.), as well as 3 hours long. But, although his voice has had it to the point where every song is in a weird key and completely rearranged. Apparently you have to have an open mind whilst walking in to one of his shows.

As mentioned, his voice is done. He has purposely rearranged a lot of songs to accomodate his voice, but more to keep them interesting to him. However, fans seem to want him to play hits the same way they remember them. But it's Dylan, I don't know why they expect him to stay static. Recently he has begun playing keyboards and not standing at the mic with a stratocaster which, again, defies people's expectations.

I would love to see Dylan and hear him play stuff off his last four albums.

I remember going to my first Coachella back in 99 and being amazed by how some of my favorite artists along with some other up and comers (At the drive in and modest mouse) were going to be playing this "new" European like festival. My friends and I had a great weekend. Seeing Jody Watley show up during the Angels set was amazing along with discovering IQU (what ever happened to them?) Who what have thought that some of these "smaller" acts could possibly be headliners today (like Pavement). every year there needs to be a new headliner that has never played before. the only time this seemed acceptable was in 07 cause rage hadnt played in so long and the scope of coachella had completely changed from 99 to 07. only having one new headliner this year did seem to lessen the initial wow factor from the poster. oh well. just give us another great sahara lineup and i'll be happy as can be (underworld please)

This is sort of unrelated, but whatever. . . I was talking to a highschool friend last night who said he saw Don Van Vliet (AKA Captain Beefheart) walking around Coachella Saturday morning. Not to mention I'm pretty sure he was on acid at Coachella.

what makes my taste in music shitty? If Godsmack is your ammo for making your statement then you should reread my prevvious post as i said I'm not a huge fan of their studio work but that they kick ass live. I never appreciated them until i saw them open for metallica and seeing metallica after their set was realllllly disappointing.
Also i don't appreciate your snyde remark "thank you for your time." What makes you think that your judgements of music is above anyone elses? Along your geneology did you develop a mutation In your auditory association area that enables you to have a more valid musical interpretation than abyone else on this board?
