Not that I would be down with this, but they randomly decided to play a show tonight in San Francisco at the Independent, and tickets literally sold out in 5 minutes. Could this be a warm up show for Coachella?

Dear Weezy F. Baby,
I love you. I respect you. You are the Game. You are Music. And you are a Rockstar. I sincerely wish you are to 09 as Kanye was to 06, sans tardi/shittyness. Please show up. I need to see you wield that 'ax', shake them dredz, and spit fire.
In the meantime, sip more syrup so as to forget 'Prom Queen'. Smoke more blunts, so as to remember your hip-hop heritage. Out-do McCartney's fireworks during Fireman.
thanks, mang. I'd go apeshit.

(P.S. Coachella should adopt the same fiscal attitude as you:
"Economy-schmekonomy. I'm ballin' through the recession"

I get it. PF is editing posts, because people are trying to post factual information about Green Day being added. PF is editing out any details that confirm this. (this may be edited). actually, just no ding dong pics please.

i've never been a fan of them (i only posted b/c someone else started the thread), but i have to give respect when it's due....they really killed last night. i still think their ballads blow, but when they stay true to their punk core, they can really bring it. their bass player is very good.

they played their new album in its entirety, took a break and then came back for another hour or so of old stuff. with a couple of likely hits off this next album, they'll be back in the spotlight again (for better or worse).

when you say they played the new album in its entirety are we talking American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown?

Yeah tell us all about the new material. I heard the new song once and didnt really like it but who knows

GeezrRckr

it's pretty good. keep in mind, i'm not a big fan of theirs, and like i said in an earlier post...when they bring the punk, their shit rocks. it's the ballads that i think is why i've prolly not really taken to them. as an old punker, it was fun being at that show. it had been a while since i've seen so many fights break out at a show (the skinny indy kids only give sarcastic looks...haha). one HUGE muthafucka that was hazing the bass player from the side stage was physically removed by an equally massive dude who looked to be private security for the band.

but, back to the new material....there were two songs in the middle of the album that are sure to be hits...fast, guitar driven punk jams that go really well with billy armstrong's voice. i'll probably buy it, put it that way. i'll surely pay a bit more attention to them now, after being at this show. i'm really curious as to how the set i saw will translate in a main stage festival setting. after this, i'm probably fucked for seeing them from now on, eh.

they really seemed to dig interacting with their fans...something they likely no longer get much of since they are pretty big now, i suspect. billy even crowd surfed a few times (trite, i know...but fun to watch b/c he had a huge smile on his face the entire time). there was also this really young kid up on his dad's shoulders near the rail (maybe 9yo). billy brought him up on the stage to dance with him a bit. he also brought on some chick to sing one of their songs (don't know which, sorry). she wasn't bad (rather brave, actually) and the band got a kick out of it (as did the crowd).

how long has it been since they've toured last?
