KSCR Fest - SUNDAY - FREE

Hey all in the Los Angeles area,

my radio station is having a FREE music festival (our first ever) this SUNDAY, March 29th from 4pm-11pm.

Headlining is Crystal Antlers; also performing are Mika Miko, The Happy Hollows, Blank Blue, Tijuana Panthers & more.

There's also going to be food (some free, some not), an art exhibit, DJ sets, and more fun than you can shake a stick at.

It's on the USC campus.

1. That's why we started our OWN festival. The concert board is run by one sorority girl who loves shitty music. I've tried joining twice, and she says, "I don't think 'independent' music is any good. We don't want that here." WHATEVERRRRR.

2. My ex's band is playing Springfest, so everyone should just boycott it for this reason alone.

I like the Happy Hollows. They are good peeps. Seen them a couple of times years ago when they'd play shows in a friends backyard. Haven't seen them since they've gotten much bigger though. Glad to see they're still rockin'. They are fun.

I had nothing to do with it. Trust me, this booking thing is a sore subject. Kids with suspect taste running the show like little babies and completely ignoring the ones who actually have connections and bargaining power with people. They accepted some pretty stupid offers from bands. Sigh.

That's not my job! I am the promotions and pr director, not in charge of concerts. That's just how things work at our station.

NOT TO MENTION...some kids from the USC concert class who also are involved in the station renegaded the whole process and picked most of the bands/did most of the deals when the concert girl was supposed to. This resulted in us now having to pay stupidly high prices for stupidly shitty bands. I think one of the lower bands --- might have been Rumspringa --- was/is getting $800. We paid Mika Miko $500 last year and they were way more famous/better than Rumspringa.

The concert girl and I have the same taste and were working really hard to exploit some of my connections. Just wasn't happening with the concerts group. They all like really shit, mediocre indie music. I'm not complaining about the Entrance Band, and I just don't dig Thee Oh Sees. It's the rest of the lineup I have issue with. End of story.
