I heard Tool was asked to perform again at Coachella this year but Maynard would only do it if RATM joined them. In a tribute to Coachella 1999.

That will be sick....

where did you here that?

That was a rumour a few months ago. Apparently Rage refused, so it is assumed Maynard refused because of it.

I love Tool.
I love Rage.
I'd love this add...but I don't buy it.

Also, I'd rather have bands added I haven't seen at Coach already.
Or at least bands that have put out albums since their last appearance.
I love Puscifer.
And it's weird to me that they're not on that poster.

there are rumorus of rage against the machine playing a few summer shows. beastie boys, metallica(this was in talks last year and metallica is considering doing a huge 2 day festival stadium show in the bay area. its in talks again), and tool as well..

i dont see any of it happening.

I think puscifer show, is not for a festival. They have a more private show they probably do only close small venues.

Yeah that was the rumor, and the were both gonna be on the same night, but Rage didn't want to do it so the idea was scrapped.

Theyre obviously not all that bad considering you still use a capital 'T' when typing Tool, which implies youre showing some kind of subconsciously repressed reverence and/or respect for the band despite your claim that they fuckin suck-just admit it,either way-you love the Tool.

it happens when you fuck around in drop D
why do people call it drop D-and why does everyone attribute it to creativity or lack thereof!?

it doesnt make a player less disciplined nor does it alter creative metabolism

it does allow for more nimble left hand techinques/action(a la pull-offs,hammers esp. w/power chords)-but in any case, its all about the actual notes, accents, and right hand technique/rhythm.

people take the drop D generalization too far-it doesnt gauge the songwriters skill/mastery or lack thereof:afu

It's because the 6th string is dropped from E to D.
Hence "Drop D" tuning.

obzen
03-27-2009, 09:20 PM
...i know that, but why do people say 'Drop D' when shit isnt always in the key of D?

the song Sober, for example is in C-its not just dropped a half note from Eflat

also,i was addressing the 'Drop D' generalization-w/contemporary metal bands since many have a proclivity for down-tuning their guitar/bass hence the frivolous assumption that tuning low is like a formula for penning songs-but it ultimately doesnt determine sonic expression-some people just want to explore different octaves w/o resorting to a custom-made 8-stringer,wtf?

Tool's power is derived from Adams dropped d guitar, but I don't think they do it as much anymore.... I think Danny should rip off Brandon Flowers weak little arms and use them for sticks while he plays a surprise Tool set on Saturday.
