Will someone record this... Like this?

And does anyone suspect some surprises will be announced... Like hinted in this article?

If you guys aren't already regularly listening to Morning Becomes Eclectic (http://www.kcrw.com/media-player/mediaPlayer2.html?type=live&id=kcrwlive) already, you're missing out.

That's a link to the streaming player. It's flash.

EASY!!!! He's gone from hosting Morning Becomes Eclectic, not from KCRW. He's still there on the weekend. Chris was at South by Southwest last week providing feedback on the bands he had seen.

He also read the lineup last year. I realize he's Jesus to many of you, but relax a bit mmkay? What's the desperation with needing it recorded by so many? It's not like what he says is not going to be posted here. Relax and wait.

Don't ask me how I know this (because I obviously can't tell you, duh) but let me paraphrase what he is going to say

"I know what Coachella means to a lot of people. It is an not only a musical event but place to experience what is so great about modern day culture. However, over the years I have noticed one place where this seems to be less and less evident. I am speaking about the Coachella message board. That is why as of today, I will be planting a small explosive device where the servers are located for http://www.coachella.com/forum. Anyone who wishes not to be part of the collateral damage would be well advised to stay clear from there at the end of this interview. To all those that spend countless hours combing the board in search for answers, I'll I can say is, "It had to be done".

It's like sticking a square peg into a cirular hole isn't it? Then again, I thought MBE would be pulled off the air as soon as Chris left.

hmmm last i knew Nick Harcourt was the host, damn i have not listened in a while.

ALthough I am not a huge fan of KCRW, i feel a lot of the shows i listened to played the exact same songs with maybe 8 song difference between the shows. Even the "non-singles" were the same from show to show to show.

So wait, you create a thread that already exists, which in turn spreads a conversation more thinly and it's my job to do the search? Ooooooook.

And it is an ego thing. People love to start things. Makes them feel important or something. In all of my years of being on boards I think I may have started 2 threads.... maybe 3. Because most of the time someone has already said it before me (and you for that matter, but you don't do searches so I guess this is news to you).

yeah its your job if you want to get all asshurt about it.

I started the thread because i scanned down the list and saw nothing, so i thought "shit i am surprised no one has said anything. I know people would want to hear that so hey i will inform people" if thats an ego thing then thats fine by me. Its an information sharing board. and i did that. Because someone posted it before me shouldnt really matter because from the title you know what it is so dont fucking open it if you read it. Simple as that.

and i bow down to your egolessness.

Is this radio station always presented by reasonably sensible sounding DJ's with decent music? It's the first non-shit US radio station I've heard in a while..

yes, it's alweays like this, it's a great station. it's Public radio though, so a lot of the content during the day is news stuff

This is the jist of the interview:

-LA is great
-Paul T is from Ohio
-He really likes music
-He likes to go to Coachella as a common person to get the real feeling of it
-He likes raves
-He books Coachella bands months in advance
-Sunset at the outdoor:
Friday-Leonard Cohen
Sat-Fleet Foxes
Sun-Paul Weller
-MSTRKRFT has something big up their sleeve, should a be sick setup
-Paul called M.I.A.'s 08 set a "scene"
-M.I.A. will play before the Killers on Sat.
-"Don't leave you kids alone in some of the areas." The Sahara tent perhaps?
-All the cries for Radiohead and Bowie don't annoy him
-Some of the fake posters impress him alot
-He really likes the Smiths
-In response to a question about the "sketchy headliners" i.e. The Killers and Jack Johnson: There are only so may bands like Radiohead and Bjork, you have to go back to the five tents and realize that there are lots of other great acts on at the same time. To be honest there aren't a lot of headliners out there.
-He doesn't know how long Coachella will be around, hopefully 40 years.

As much as The Killers have pissed me off this year, this is a a very solid response to this question. It also echos pretty much everyone's response on this board when people bring up the hate parade towards the headliners (at least those who disagree).

Wait... Morrissey fans are "nuts?"
Well, they were in the 90's at all the shows I went to. I was nuts right along with them though.

Wheres the beef?

They have to have somebody playing somewhere........

Or else the old "If you dont like it, go see something else" wouldn't be true.

Perhaps a Ghostland/Paul conflict?

I don't like the idea, but I can see it happening.

yeah, they have to shut down the main stage they can't risk having an soundbleed during his set. If they did it for Jarvis Cocker they can do it for Leonard Cohen. This is what should happen.

Main Stage
McCartney 10-12
Morrissey 8:35-9:35
Franz Ferdinand 7:20-8:10
-----empty------ 6:20-7:20
Outdoor Theatre
?? 9-10
?? 7:45-8:35
Leonard Cohen 6:20-7:20

except that would put Cohen into NOT a sunset slot... you've got FF in the sunset slot... the sun sets @ 7:35pm

they also closed the main for Madonna...

I dont think anyone will conflict with McCartney, maybe a Sahara act.

I just dont want to be runing back and forth from the Main to the Outdoor.

are you fucking lazy??? it's like 100 feet!

The Black Keys would end when Paul started. The outdoor theatre would be closed after.

Also, there WILL be conflicts against Paul beyond the Sahara. There is still the Gobi and the Mojave. At least one of them, possibly both, will still be open. I think the mojave may end up like this.... Genghis Tron->Crystal Castles->Ghostland

top tier acts don't play during the headliner... check the last few years, see who played during the headliner, then check the position of that act on the poster, it's never top tier, and Sahara headliners don't conflict with the Main Stage ones...

Main:
SSPU 6-6:50
Franz Ferdinand 7:15-8:05
Morrissey 8:30-9:30
Paul McCartney 10-12

Outdoor:
Beirut 6:15-7:05
Leonard Cohen 7:30-8:30
The Black Keys 9:00-9:50
