Out of all the 2008 bands that should be on there, its The National.

So if they rounded up a bunch of acts and put one song from each, heres a few good ideas:

Basement Jaxx-Where's Your Head At or Good Luck or Cish Cash
Bjork ('07)-Declare Independence (or All Is Full Of Love...or Unravel...or Hyperballad)
Daft Punk-Robot Rock or Technologic or Television Rules The Nation/Crescendolls or Face To Face
Massive Attack-Group Four or Mezzanine or Angel
Digitalism-Pogo
LCD Soundsystem-US v Them
Gnarls Barkley-Go Go Gadget Gospel or St. Elsewhere
Portishead-Wandering Star or Glory Box
Prince-Purple Rain AND/or Creep
Etienne De Crecy-something
Justice-Let There Be Light/Skitzo Dancer or Genesis
Imogen Heap-Just For Now or Hide & Seek
M.I.A.-Paper Planes or Bamboo Banger or World Town
Madonna-Let It Will Be or Hung Up or Get Together

and so on...

Sigur Ros
RATM
Roger Waters
Madonna
Massive Attack
Teddybears

Short parts of electronic acts such as: Kraftwerk, Boys Noize, Aphex Twin, SMD, Deadmau5, Digitalism, Faithless, LCD Soundsystem, Soulwax, etc.

manu chao is an important one i think many are skipping over. plus some shots from the do lab and dome are essential. gotan project would be a nice way to close out the video like zero 7 from the other one. but honestly, the image of people hanging/dancing upside down from the rafters in the sahara tent for hot chip in 08 epitomizes the coachella experience for me

Jman4321
03-22-2009, 01:48 AM
I would want The Rapture's intro. Specifically: The bassist playing a DJ mix for awhile in order to mask the bands set-up and then having his band pick up each piece of the song he is playing and from there launch into their own set. It was fucking awesome.

Pre-06:
Broken Social Scene - Anthems

2006:
DAFT PUNK - anything
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Art Star
Giant Drag - anyhing, but Annie talking about the Coachella board MUST be included
Gnarls Barkley (first major performance? come on)
Metric - anything (2008 works, too)
Massive Attack - Teardrop

2007:
Jarvis Cocker - Cunts Are Still Running the World (with his speech about how the song isn't dedicated to anyone there because we're all there without police supervision in the middle of nowhere and we aren't eating each other, and some more of his speeches would be nice, like the differences between Coachella and Euro fests)
Gogol Bordello - the song with the drum surfing
Rage Against the Machine - Down Rodeo (personal pick, but I guess the explosion when they took the stage to Bulls on Parade or Freedom are more obvious and understandable)
LCD Soundsystem - Daft Punk Is Playing at My House (immediately before Daft Punk)
Tiesto's intro, for the comedic value
The Decemberists - The Mariner's Revenge Song
CSS - Let's Make Love and Listen to Death from Above (or Meeting Paris Hilton while Paris watches from the side)
Grizzly Bear - Knife
Rodrigo y Gabriela - Wish You Were Here
Bjork - Declare Independence (I know she is on the other DVD, but come on, reacTable!)
The Jesus and Mary Chain - Just Like Honey

2008:
Portishead - The Rip...actually, release the whole damn thing
Prince - ditto, but if I had to choose, Creep or Jungle Love or Let's Go Crazy
Roger Waters - ditto, but Comfortably Numb
Sean Penn - baby rape
Aphex Twin
The Verve - Sonnet
Animal Collective - Brother Sport
M.I.A. - TURN OFF THE FUCKING LIGHTS! *presses the gunshot effect again and again*
Battles
St. Vincent - Paris Is Burning
Justice

I know Tool never consents to filming, so I didn't include them. Sigur Ros has one live DVD with a second on the way, so as awesome as that would be, it wouldn't make much sense.

From 2005, I think they should add some of Stereophonic's amazing set. Or Kasabian's.

From 2006, definitely some of that Massive Attack.

From 2007, some Jarvis Cocker, TGTB&TQueen, and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

From 2008, some Swell Season, Hot Chip, and Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks.

I'm going to re-iterate an idea brought up last time we had this conversation, and say screw a dvd. just create an online archive of videos. it might be a subscription based thing. some videos might only be available for a limited time. but fuck I'd pay for that, they could put a WHOLE lot more performances online than they could on a dvd.

What I'd REALLY like to see in a new doc is actually more non-performance stuff.
Just about the experience throughout.

What I'd REALLY like to see in a new doc is actually more non-performance stuff.
Just about the experience throughout.

Last year the BBC was filming there and I want to see what they were filming.

But I would like to have:

"The Rip" by Portishead
"Oh" by Sleater Kinney
"Get Together" by Madonna
"One Big Holiday" by My Morning Jacket
any Daft Punk
any part of Aphex Twin (preferably the really hard portion)
"Creep" or "Let's Go Crazy" (i fucking love that whole jabber right before it too) by Prince
the song with the Amazing (blah blah blah) Sisters by Devotchka
"Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" by Vampire Weekend
"Bamboo Banga" by M.I.A. (with the gunshots edited out please...if there were any)
"Turn Into" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

and then anything by these:
Animal Collective (06)
the Swell Season
Arctic Monkeys
Rage Against the Machine (only to see what the crowd looked like since i didnt go to 07)
Santogold (or is it Santigold now?)

i think that is enough.
