It will either be MGMT or Plain White T's

And a headlining DJ set by Lady GaGa in the tent.

Probably Kings of Leon. Even worse than the Killers! Not only do they suck, and not only are they getting bigger than they deserve, but they also are entirely overplayed, making them the perfect headliner candidate. "Yeah, brah, let's go all the way out to the desert to see the band that's played every town's theater, small arena, and radio station the past couple years!"

It's hard to write about something you love. If music's shitty, you can just call it shitty whereas music done right isn't something you can really adequately describe.

Also, Goddamn I'll listen to all the nonsensical metaphors Flowers and Friends have to offer sooner than ever hear another Kings of Leon song. I am so fucking aggressively sick of that band, I do not see the appeal at all.

janes might play if their tour with nin goes well this year, but then again maybe people will be kinda sick of them by that point. they wouldnt cause any scheduling conflicts for me. porno for pyros would be awesome tho

smashing pumpkins? everyone seemed to think they were ready for headlining before they released that album that pretty much sucked (and before everyone realized wait, this is just zwan 2.0)

im surprised pearl jam hasnt been picked as well, another "meh" in my book

Well, when he can sell out a 16k stadium in LA with DCFC as an opener, please let me know.

From what I heard, his show in LA was selling very well. He cancelled due to the workers strike. Not due to poor ticket sales.

When The Killers came to Vancouver 2 years ago, they played a 2,300 person theatre. This time (just after Coachella), they are playing to an 8,000 person mini-stadium. Neil Yong on the other hand, almost sold out a 14,000 person stadium last November.

I slept on it, and I take it back. I can totally see Interpol headlining. That would be pretty wicked. If they were to install some sort of light show and MAYBE energize themselves just a little bit that show would be unstoppable. The music is already there, fierce, intense, dark, gloomy, dancey, amazing. I love that band

As some people said, Kings of Leon fit the bill but won't be there (no way Coachella gets them after they headline Lolla, Sasquatch, and ACL).

Also, as much as people want them, I don't think Arcade Fire will play next year. Sorry. Lolla and Bonnaroo are my guesses as to where they end up, since they hit Sasquatch, Coachella, and ACL in 07.

Muse is definitely a safe bet. It'll have been 6 years since they last played (04) and they've gotten loads bigger. Plus it'll sort of be their 1st legit top 3 US headlining spot (were technically 4th at Lolla 07 and replaced White Stripes after they canceled).

I don't think you can really predict a shitty headliner.

Somebody who is cool today could be considered lame by the time the next Coachella rolls around.

There could be some new act that pops up out of nowhere and hits the charts big with very little local club tours.

Or it could just be someone we didn't expect to be ready to headline who is pushed into the spotlight either because of availability or price or some other factor.

I'm sure him and Perry get along and everything, but a one-off at Coachella back in 99 is a bit different than a one-off at a massively corporate festival that doesn't take place in California where 75 percent of the band live. Just sayin'. Maybe it'll happen, but it seems dubious.

The Killers and Tool are expected to fill out the headlining slots for the fifth annual Lollapalooza festival Aug. 7-9 in Grant Park.

Multiple industry sources confirmed over the weekend at the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas, that the two bands will join headliners previously reported by the Tribune: the Beastie Boys, Depeche Mode and Jane's Addiction, plus Kings of Leon.

i put muse in the same class as the killers
-sonically,they sound like other artists-so much to the point where i honestly consider whether they blatantly formulated someones else's idiosyncratic niche only to hide the creative lull that the band hits with bombastic filler and a painfully mediocre live show-no passion

im straight on muse-theyre not my thing

fin.

Exactly. It's formulaic crap. It's like they read "Idiot's Guide to Forming a Rock Band" and followed the book's every suggestion.

I'm not a huge Muse fan, really I'm not, and I'd never listen to their music outside of a live setting - but they do put on a quality old-skool pomposity rocktacular that works perfectly at a festival.

It's a good show, really it is.

Muse IS ridiculously cheesy, very much like Queen. Also like Queen, they are a great live band.

i think the real question is "would you take muse over the killers?" in which case my answer would be yes.
