are exactly what are needed on Saturday to replace Winehouse, Don't know if it counts as a reunion but its close enough

PassiveTheory

It's not a reunion, you retard. Their last record came out two years ago. And I doubt they're going to tour any time soon. Last I read, Albert was going to release ANOTHER solo album and the drummer and bassist have their own things going on. Maybe next year.

Albert already released his second album Nikoli and Fab already released their records and toured also. The Strokes are already back together in the studio working on their fourth album. I haven't heard anything about the progress on that record, but I'm sure we will hear something soon. This is exactly what Saturday needs. The Strokes would not replace Amy though, they should replace The Killers and let The Killers take Amy's spot!

Im a little concerned about Pharrell trying to produce for The Strokes. Idk what the status is on that but I dont want Pharrell tampering with their sound if (and they will) come out with a new album.

1) Why would they add someone a week before to a destination festival?
Unless, they live in the Indio area it's impossible to get off work/make plans in that amount of time.

2) Who would create an influx of ticket sales that would be worth the investment?
No one, that would make that big of a difference in a week.

3) Why would they bring The Strokes?
They're completely irrelevant anymore.

I agree one hundred percent. I have been where they added Kanye West...Beck and Morrisey on at the last minute. You printed out the set times and all of a sudden they were on there. They're making plenty of money :) Paul's gonna throw a curve ball for all the dedicated coachella goers...it's the 10th year :)

They've added subheadliners the day of the festival dude. I've seen them do this for Beck,Kanye West and Morrisey on three separate occasions. As for 5-6 days prior...I can't recall any occasions. I'm sorry you couldn't understand my post earlier...I was high. Thank you

1. talks can sometimes be a huge bitch. Take Prince for example. He was always in talks to be added but because of a number of factors it didn't happen until 2 weeks prior to the festival.

2. Well of the 5 supposed acts listed: U2 would ensure a gurantee a sell out. They sold out the rose bowl in a day. That was 90,000 tickets, that's 3rd more then Coachella's per day attendence.

3. I agree with you here. The stokes wouldn't move tickets.

Kanye West could have been a sub but there was no room after Sigur Ros and Franz in 06. But then again....before last year they had never added a headliner 2 weeks before the festival so there you go.

I am not saying its going to happen..in fact I doubt it will but no one here knows everything. If you would have told me last year "Prince will be added 2 weeks prior" I would have told you to go fuck yourself. And for the record. I heard of the U2 rumor since before the line up release....

I agree with you that U2 makes fiscal sense. How many people could take a day off from the San Diego, Las Vegas, Los Angeles area...just to go for a day but my arguments were based on the fact that The Strokes would incite...what 10 people to do that? So you make very valid points but my argument was moreso, combating the theory of a "strokesish" type band getting added. Not necessarily the biggest rock band in the world.

Lots of people shut out of the other U2 sells outs would take the day off in a heart beat...in fact people would pay the 3 day pass just for Saturday....its the biggest band in the world...I think CoS was a little generous in saying the other names could/would headliner (well maybe but they wouldn'ty move tickets at this point...only U2 would). If a Stroke's type band was added it would merely be icing on the line up...and considering that ticket sales are going well it wouldn't be a gamble financially.

there's no doubt in my mind that U2 is going to play. That mutual lovefest that happened recently when Chris Martin, Bono and the killers all performed "All these things that I've done" together suggests it's possible. And i just think that coachella wouldnt let it's little sister (APW) have more interesting and relevant headliners.

also, i second the notion that 1000s of people can make it to coachella on last minute notice if a show is on saturday. Friday, sure, that would be tough. But who the fuck works regular saturdays and can afford to go to coachella.

I'd love to see the Strokes there - they used to absolutely kill live. But remember that they were so young during their first two tours - like 22-25 or so. Seven years makes a big difference in how a band performs live. Doesn't change the fact that they make (or made) awesome music.

And I'm glad you didn't start a new thread, but...this has got to be one of the angriest threads I've seen, reading back through it. Good lord people are tense before the festival sometimes.

It's at Dingwalls - Said "Available from 9pm at this site only" - Then they sold them all through music glue whilst everyone was trying to get through to the Dingwalls site (which just kept crashing).

10 tickets are now 200 tickets on ebay.
