Outkast, and Outkast Only, because HOPEFULLY OUTKAST WOULD BRING Janelle Monae...YUM.

I mean, Glow in the Dark was just incredibly elaborate. It would be really cool if he could let go of all that, and just be up for a mic and a dj and a huge crowd in the desert. But that's really, really doubtful. Such a diva.

Outkast would just make my whole fucking year. And Cee-Lo would be amazing, or Goodie or the Lumberjacks or whatever.

I'm also still holding out hope for Q-tip or Common, or some Wu.

Janelle Monae is sooooooooooooo fantastic live. I can't decide if she's destined to become a megastar, or is just too *weird* to become a true megastar. Awesome stuff though.

OUTKAST for sure!
I've seen them both.. Kanye at Coachella and Outkast at the Area One tour which was Moby's festival years ago.. It had him, Outkast and the Roots. Outkast stole the show of course.
Outkast is timeless, Kanye will be gone soon... at least that mullet will be.

see why does everyone think Glow in the Dark was soooo awesome?? Don't get me wrong it was cool.....but come on! GITD was not near as cool as NIN's lights in the sky tour, Flaming Lips UFO, any Tool show, Radiohead's 2008 light show, or the Daft Punk Pyramind. I guess the only awesome part is that it was a rap show and not many rap shows have big over the top productions anymore.

02-21-2009, 10:09 AM
Outkast is better because Big Boi and Andre 3000 are both better rappers then Kanye, they make music that isn't always hip hop but just fun R&B
and Kanye's lyrics suck
the only reason to listen to him is for his beats, I think if he started being a Producer then I might respect his career a bit more

I wish I saw The Glow in the Dark tour instead of the Street Scene performance. At Street Scene he wouldn't stop talking in-between the songs and I think The Glow in the Dark settup would have made it difficult for him to bitch about the lighting guy, sound guy, and the members of the audience. Maybe I just caught a shitty performance but he was the headliner for Christ sake.

Outkast on the other hand I grew up listening to. ATLiens was one of the first cd's that I would listen to in my car on the way to high school. Aqemini was such a solid album and I know I played the shit out of that record when it came out. The beats are just so crazy and they both have such unique a way of raping. Then Stankonia came out and I listened to it, in its entirety, while I was trippin on mushrooms and I was really able to focus on the depth of the musical arrangements in that album (not to mention the lyrical content). The album is crazy. I would suggest it to anyone and I believe it is on of the best hip hop albums to ever be recorded. It just took the game to a whole other level. I saw them at the House of Blues in Vegas around the time Stankonia came out and the show was sick. Andrea had pants made out of teddy bears or something crazy like that.

I said GITD was elaborate, not awesome. Rihanna, NERD and Lupe were fucking awesome, and then we waited out the 145 minutes it took Kanye's stupid spaceship stage to set up, stayed for 15 minutes of his corny ass, and beat traffic.

I have a similar history with them, playing their albums like I'm gettin paid for it, but it really started for me with Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. Drivin to junior year of high school. ATLiens will forever take me instantly to my freshman dorm hallway. I can just smell the shwag and puke. Stankonia my first apartment, much better weed and only my own puke. I can outline my life by outkast albums.
Damn it would be great to see them at Coachella.

you're right, it's not even really a question...

Kanye is a talented producer, but as a live performer he is a joke. He is a terrible rapper, and his atrocious, off key warbling that he thinks is singing, doesn't even sound decent with heavy autotune assistance.

i know right judging OUTKAST on their experimental album. speakerboxx was good, andres joint not so good. kanye=cheese so if you think kanye is good hip hop or even think that crap is hip hop it doesnt surprise me that you are from Oz. outkast is the pioneers of down south hip hop and have put out many albums that have been legendary. Aquemeni will always be my favorite hip hop album.

Outkast all the way over Kanye. I havent see outkast since my freshman year and that was in 97. best live show ever. thats when a live band was not even heard of yet and they rocked that shit.

BKsaysAction!

The Love Below was Andre 3000 paying tribute to all his influences: the beatles, prince, p funk, stevie wonder, etc its a great album if you don't go in expecting hip hop. Basicly to me Outkast has never made a bad album even their last was a pretty stong record and it's their weakest. Shit i even enjoyed the movie Idlewild.

Kanye has a few good albums but as of late his Ego has been interfering with his music making and his last album was trash. That one is all "pop songs" that my neice and nephew love. So untill Kanye gets a grip on reality i'm not much of a fan.

Oz, if I may, I think some of the immediate tendency towards your flaming here is likely due to the passionate resentment towards Kanye West that Americans who really love music have developed over the last few years.

He is a great producer, but when he had that accident and decided his healing was some incredible miracle that somehow justified his new mediocre rapping career like some egomaniacal phoenix complex, all the while displaying nil talent and making the shittiest radio pop-hop since bad boy, and all of it continually and constantly sold to us as if it's the greatest fucking music from the greatest fucking person who ever lived and obviously ohmygod he's the greatest rapper ever, it started to piss people off a little, and continues to.

And this is from somebody who actually went to Glow in the Dark. Didn't pay for tickets, mind you, but attended in fact. After seeing Pharell and Lupe jump their sexy asses around that stage, Kanye was like watching my dad trying to rap up there.

Outkast, on the other hand, we all grew up with, long before Hey Ya. Along with Goodie Mob, they put Atlanta, GA on the hip-hop map in the 90s, planting the seeds for what would become the Dirty South hip-hop universe. They are, in fact, undeniable.

actually, its not his love for kanye that is so annoying, i actually like kanyes music quite a bit (although i agree with everybody that hes an egomaniac douche). i flamed him because of his apparent inability to research an artists music before drawing stupid comparisons and conclusions.

Hope I helped. Also, fuck these assholes.

thats fair enough and im not going to qestion anything you have said! thankyou for a half decent reply! i like this person already... and good work getting into the glow in the dark concert for free! if outkast were on the bill this is the type of person i would want to be standing next to... enjoy mate,

If you're going to come in here and act like you've listened to Outkast, don't start the ruse with "all their songs sound like Hey Ya." You are a fool and likely a criminal.

Outkast are the single best rap group out there IMO. Their entire catalog (minus Idlewild, which wasn't all that bad) has been top notch. I wasn't a big fan of The Love Below, but Speakerboxxx was very solid. Big Boi's consistently quick, astute style continues to surprise with every new release. ATLiens was the first CD I ever bought back when it came out in '96, and still remains my favorite. I'd probably rather see Outkast live than anyone else out there, period.

Best American rap aritst? Like there's a rapper from another country who could top any of ours? GTFO

no, thats not a fair answer because you need to actually listen to their cds before you say something like that. thats the whole point. you obviously lack the knowledge to even be discussing this topic, yet you continue to do so. if you did actually listen, you would realize they are not gangster rap, and they are nothing like brittany spears.

i am getting sick of arguing with ignorance, so i will just leave you with a few good outkast songs. so here ya go mate...crank these up, go crack open a fosters, and throw a shrimp on the barbie while you enjoy the sounds of one of the most creative, gifted, and innovative hip hop acts ever. you're welcome.

Outkast, I like both and would love to see both. I feel like I'll have more chances for Kanye and I'd like him to be touring with a better album. Outkast is way more coachella, move The Cure to Sat and put Outkast as the Sun header.

Anyone who would pick Kanye West in this situation has no hip-hop credibility what-so-ever. Outkast album ATLiens is probably one of the sickest hip-hop albums ever released, and i still bump that shit. Kanye on the other hand is an arrogant asshole who has boldly made statements like "No one should mention music without mentioning my name" should be nowhere near a festival as humble as coachella. FUCK KANYE WEST! OUTKAST ALL DAY!

yeah he should produce instead. I started getting really annoyed with him when he started bitching that one time he didnt get an Mtv award for some stupid category. The he goes on and is like "Ohh hell na foo, give me ma moon man"
