View Full Version : How Hard Is It To "Runaway"?

Good Days Last

So I was thinking today. I hate where my life is. I hate going to college when I know I could be doing something more productive with my life.
Maybe I can go runaway where I can hate myself somewhere else.

I understand I'd have to have some cash to get a place to stay. No car. No problem thanks to Greyhound. I'm 18 (19 in March) so it really wouldn't be considered running away.

Just disappear off the face of the Earth. I'd probably have to find a pretty decent job to keep paying for the place or whatever. And food. Eh.

This is sounding like a lot of trouble.

You can do lots of productive thinks without a higher education...like snagging a job at mcdonalds.

Eh. Del Taco isn't much better. I'll assure you. Though I've never worked at McD's.

what's more productive than college? and what are you running away from? you don't have to run or quit to change.

Haha... Yeah. I used to live in San Diego. Utah is great for being Mormon.. but I just need to get away. I never thought about suicide. A couple students here already did that last semester.

Idk. I struggled finishing High School. I jsut want to go walk somewhere where I could just find a bag of ten million dollars. and call it a life.

hey, yeah, i was just listening on NPR the other day about some kid who dropped out of college after his freshman year and i think he ended up like getting his winky fondled by some old man or something, i dont know, i wasnt really listening. maybe he developed a drug habit? anyway, it was something lame.

Running away is a lot more fun with a college diploma, because you can actually earn enough money to run away in style...

just sayin.

Haha, Great vid. I though about transferring. I guess dropping out wouldn't be the best idea... I'd also probably drop my two scholarships worth 5,000 every semester.

Ya what she said. I paid for my college education with a scholarship and a part-time job. I'm sure plenty of people do that.

I also had time to get to know a big new city, play in a couple of bands, get wasted with friends, AND get a good job at the end that lets me come to Coachella.

College is fun man, you'll be missing out if you don't go. You can always make it without college, it's just easier for you when you get that nice-paying job doing something you like.

Think about whether you're happy or not. If, deep down, there's no way you can be happy in that place, then go somewhere else. But, I feel like people can find happiness anywhere.

I find happiness whenever I find more french fries tucked away at the bottom of a Jack In the Box sack.

You don't need a college education; you can learn a trade and make a lot of money that way.

Also, I really like that Wilson Phillips song. It was popular when I was in high school, and all my choir friends loved to sing it.

I hate viacom for it's pressure on youtube to pull copyrighted material because it prevents me from posting the video for Bon Jovi's "Runaway". In the meantime, here it is live:

I really want to know what's torturing you so bad. I mean, college sucks, entry level jobs suck....but what's spurring you to actually punt it away and go somewhere new?

Good Days Last
02-13-2007, 05:13 PM
I guess it's just the pressure. Pressure from friends and family to go and graduate like my older sister will be doing in about a year.

Pressure to go on a religious mission for my church. It's all jsut wearing on me.

schoolofruckus
02-13-2007, 05:16 PM
What angle do they use to apply pressure? I mean, do they still fund a decent portion of your life? Do they threaten to cut you off if certain conditions aren't abided by? Or are the just up your ass all the time?
