There's a huge show in Chicago with deadmau5 and the Crookers headlining that has been planned for April 11th. I just saw the flyer and along with those two, Late of the Pier and THE WHIP are going to perform. From what I know, The Whip has has limited US appearances so far, and would absolutely decimate the dance tent. It'd be a great addition for Saturday, for sure. The myspace doesn't indicate anything, but I wouldn't be surprised to see The Whip added on later.

Boom! You slept on it earlier but it's looking like it's really happenin'.

The Whip announce their tour dates in North America and...

There's a big hole right where Coachella is.

Either they are playing or they're going, cause they're in San Francisco right before it.

Not sure if they will make an appearance, as they are playing in LA at Spaceland twice the following Wed and Thurs. Why would they play Coachella and endanger ticket sales for Spaceland on 2 nights? Most of the people from LA that wanted to see them will probably do so at Coachella.

It's over a month after it though. What's the day limit set at?

When I see good acts at Coachella, I try to see other shows where they are headlining. I think Coachella would be a good way to increase ticket sales for a show the following week, as long as they do a good set at Coachella. If there is a lot of talk about there Coachella set, people who couldn't make it to Coachella will want to check them out.

nobody answered my question: what is the usual limit of time that an artist has to stay away from LA before and after playing Coachella?

Usually Mid tier - Higher tier they don't really play within a couple months or so (Leonard Cohen being an exception, but then again he always seems to play that role )

Lower tier acts seem to have more flexibility although it's a rarity that they play on the same month as the festival in LA. They usually show up as surprise guests later the week right after Coachella (Spank Rock, MSTRKRFT, etc have done this)

I'd love for the Whip to be there, but with them playing Wed and Thurs right after Coachella, screams to me that they probably aren't going to be there this year. Although I would love to be wrong.
