or does a lot of the music this year seem to be influenced by The Cure, MBV, and the Smiths?

It's probably just me...

Maybe it's the power of suggestion with those names at the top of the poster. It would make sense though, fans may be more apt to enjoy bands influenced by the headliners.

is it just me or would many of the bands on the lineup not be here if it wasn't for the effort Paul McCartney put into the Beatles?

no they do. Beatles get too much credit. But that doesn't mean they weren't good.

Way too much fucking credit though.

There's hundreds indie bands out nowadays with that cure sound. hundreds.

Yeah...but it seems that after revisiting Loveless after many years, I didn't really realize that it's almost uncanny the amount of artists that have adopted the same sort of musical style...in a round about way

Paul is cool...but...Ghostland Observatory>Paul (gay dancing indians beats songs I've heard a billion times hands down)

And no, I won't send you to Hell. How could I send you to an imaginary place?

Right. There wouldn't be anything good ever if it wasn't for The Beatles.

So sick of that kind of shit attitude.

Agreed, although I've been using JAMC as the reference point. Listen to "Psycho Candy" and then listen to "A Place To Bury Strangers." I'm glad to see this genre making a comeback.

It's true...we'd still be in the musical dark ages if it wasn't for the Beatles. All hail the mighty Beatles. :rolleyes

But don't listen to me...I'm ONLY Jesus

You know what I'm also glad to see coming back? Bad 80s synthisizer beats. It's the New New wave. I love it.

It's not just you, and part of me thinks it has something to do with marketing towards the SoCal/Mexi-emo-punk genres. Since a lot more people probably won't be flying across the country or from another country due to financial concerns, it makes sense that GV would book bands that are most popular in the areas directly around the festival's location.
