so pretty much you just want it to be last year.

although i don't know if the chemical brothers played. but seriously, it's no big deal if we don't get a band that already played the year before anyway. it's nice to have things changed up. don't get me wrong, i love animal collective, but the diversity is nice. they can't just keep all the same bands playing every year just because they're good.

You guys are so funny..I do wonder if MGMT has more songs..lol But I love them...Theyre so cute. They are no Zepp but not everyone can be..give them a break..They are groovy!!

Chemical Brothers-Everyone is saying we're getting a Sahara add for Saturday so maybe?
Animal Collective-Maybe..not. They played 08 and 06. But they have a huge gap in their tour dates for a possibility.
MGMT-No. They were just at Coachella last year. They have no new music...why would they play again?

your opinion means nothing when you say how cute you think they are

Also, MGMT are collaborating with The Chemical Brothers in the studio so who knows what could happen

MGMT wins the award for largest novelty act of the decade. How anyone can listen to their songs more than 3 times and STILL enjoy them is mind-boggling to me...

they're just like the arctic monkeys. people are gonna think they're really cool for a while and then eventually forget what was actually appealing about them.

Agreed. Arctic Monkeys are the strongest new band of the last 5 years, easily.

I missed MGMT last time around. Hopefully if they come, they won't conflict with anything decent.

Any colabs with the Chems just shows how diverse they are when it comes to making their sound. Beth, Fatlip, Noel, etc. MGMT is a great choice to work with!

MGMT was soooooo boring last year. Sad because I like their record. They were a little beer when they opened up for Beck and Spoon at the Hollywood Bowl is September but still not great

...and what is it with all these people asking for repeats of last year's acts?

I don't like MGMT live. They're blank. It's missing something.
that being said, "Time to Pretend" was the song that defined 2008, and I love the way it was produced.

true, I love their first album, but saw them several times over the last 2 years and they were dreadfully boring live...

I did seem them at this small place in NY in 07 and thought they were much better than the other times, maybe they were more in their comfort zone, who knows?

with some new material, a little more experience and more of an actual full band thing going on now, i could see them improving greatly

I choose Of Montreal over MGMT

Of Montreal isn't very cool anymore. i was lucky enough to catch them just over 3 years ago, when they had just barelyyyy begun to step into the whole "gay bar dance pop" thing, so most of their set was their great psychedelic pop stuff that they were so good at.

but now, they just play funk and dance music, and pretty much stuff that you would hear at any gaybar.
their shows more be getting "fancier", but they were so much better when they had to pull off all the weird antics with no help from props or lightshows or anything like that.

I agree they have changed considerably, I saw them for the first time about 6 years ago, and it seems like a completely different band....

they are still pretty fun live though even if it is a little too "gay bar" for some
