There are three bands from the great state of Minnesota: Cloud Cult The Hold Steady, and Atmosphere! Cloud Cult is cool even though they are doing commercials, while Atmosphere never impressed me until the new album was forced past my eardrums. The Hold Steady just never rocked my world either, saw them at sasquatch and was super boring. Chalks up to be like Cloud Cult is the only worthwhile Minnesotan band to see. I talked to Deerhunter when they played here and I thought I heard they were playing Coachella this year....Animal Collective should be playing too!

Paul McCartney - 1st time will certainly be an unforgettable performance.
Beiruit - 1st time old world sweetness!
Conor Oberst - thumbs down, wish he was playing with desaparecidos.
Morrissey - okay I guess....I will probably skip him for something way better!
Black Keys - Will see them for the 1st time, can't wait!
Ghostland Observatory - saw them at SASQUATCH don't miss them!
Crystal Castles - 8-bit freakout, yes!!!! 1st time
A Place to Bury Strangers - 1st time sonic loudness hooolly fuck- don't miss them!

(the rest of the bands on friday I've never really checked out but plan on it) If you think I should check a certain one out please post!

LIARS - 1st time seeing them, boy is it about time!
TV on the Radio - 1st time seeing them, I am SO stoked.
Band of Horses - 1st time, I love their reverbish country vibe.
Fleet Foxes - 1st time, what a band! They are brand new and near the top of the list of this festival! Rookie band harmonizes so well and is gracious with early success, I cant fucking wait!
Michael Franti - probably will skip just because of sasquatch '07.
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - WILL RULE
Cloud Cult and Dr. Dog I will definately have to check out.

I have to go to work now, Sunday looks great too with the headliners!!!! Cure, MBV, YYY's, No Age, Perry Farrell.

Again if I missed a smaller time band that you think I should check out hit it up yo!!!

I will be travelling most likely by myself unless my friend Aimee can scrounge up the 571 dollars for a plane ticket and camping/3-day pass PLUS fees, PLUS transportation from the airport to the venue. If you want to meet up for some free candy let me know creeper!

the point was for me to "fail" and waste your precious internet time....also for others to point me in the direction of any good sets that I should see versus another set.

I would add Bob Mould to the list ...of Husker Du fame. Based out of DC now though. And I believe Antony's parents live here now but that doesn't really count because I don't think he ever really did. (Sounds like he will be doing an in-studio session at The Current next Saturday before his show - broadcast following week.)

I'm still buzzing from Tapes and Tapes at 1st Ave tonight, but was really there to hear Solid Gold. They would be an awesome Coachella band. One of the members told me their manager is based in England and flew over to see the show tonight - they have hopes of playing a European festival.

And while we're in Minnesota - how freaking lucky are we to have a PUBLIC radio station like The Current. Google it and check out the play list or stream online.

I'll be flying in to San Diego for my fourth Coachella. I'm a happy camper.

Yeah the current is amazing, LA is lacking a quality station as such.

I find it hard to believe that someone from Minnesota would make such an oversight!

Bob Mould is the honest to goodness shit!

No, few Pale Minnesotans have the lust for these bands or the SPF protection strong enough to suit the sun.
