What do you think?

Chemical Brothers? The Prodigy? Beck? Armin Van Buuren? Will Bowie fly in like Jesus coming down from Heaven?

Discuss.

im so indie
02-02-2009, 08:24 PM
Everyone is thinking Chemical Brothers, which makes it less likely that it will happen. Additions have usually been pretty unpredictable. The only thing we're going off of is Dani saying there's more Sahara to come.

My blind guess: Underworld

I still think he's trying to court Pavement into playing. My query is that if they sign on would they replace The Killers as a headliner. I think they should but my personal taste really means nothing to a profit chart.

Pavement isn't nearly big enough to replace the Killers.

Blur over the Killers

Amneeziac
02-02-2009, 08:46 PM
I truly think The Killers will get moved down to second line for someone else. At a complete loss when it comes to who will top them.

Pavement nor Blur could top The Killers. We'd need someone bigger.

As for all the Chem Bros talk, I think it's valid. GV are holding back some serious Sahara talent, I am positive of that not only because I have faith in them, but because Dani told us so.

Memorial_07
02-02-2009, 09:16 PM
Well without going too overboard, he'll probably get someone who can headline the sahara during the killer's set which is probably why everyone is saying Chem. Bros but how 'bout cocteau twins over killers?

microcuts
02-02-2009, 09:17 PM
Bowie or Springsteen. And if Springsteen is doing Bonnaroo then I guess that makes it pretty clear.

And GV already got egg on their faces in 05 by booking Cocteau Twins and having them pull out a couple months later. I doubt they'd be eager to give it a second try. They'd be on the second line anyway.

Coachella has more than filled its rap quota for 2009. What it's lacking is Sahara power, female acts, and a strong Saturday top-tier.

Based on ticket sales, I'm expecting a big add for Sunday. I'm more than satisfied with Sunday, I'm fucking ecstatic about it, but the ticket-buying public apparently isn't.

I did read that, I still refuse to believe it. Why, of all the deserving 00s bands, would you pick The Killers to receive that kind of honor? And yes, I think it's an honor for The Killers to be headlining a festival like Coachella. I don't think they deserve it at all. They are major label, they're bigger sell-outs than Coldplay. Brandon Flowers can't sing live for shit.

I'm really hoping that, if PT is serious about The Killers, we get new sub-headliners.

Yeah, as good as a TV On The Radio and Amy Wienhouse are; TVOR>Wienhouse>Killers is really weak for a Coachella Sat. One way or another, this cannot stand. Not without a huge Sahara act to compliment it anyway...

Muse
Chems
Underworld
Jaxx
Pulp
Modest Mouse

These are all solid Sat. additions, imo.

some realistic thoughts...
The Chems are not touring this year, if added onto Chella line up, it will be their one off in 2009 - highly doubt this
Daft Punk will not play before the new record is out - highly doubt this possibility also
Underworld are touring Europe in the summer - they are a big possibility for Chella
Basement Jaxx - they start their UK tour April 20th - it is possible but i doubt it

i dont think sell-out is the right word for them. They have always been pretty open about wanting to sell to mass america. And all headliners have been on major labels, or a very close subsidiary (sic?) label.

With the Langerado news, I won't be expecting any new additions this year, at least nothing major. This, of course, has me thinking twice about buying tix to begin with. I think I'd need one worthy EDM addition (Orbital, Chems, 808 State, Grace Jones) to Saturday before sending $300 to Paul T.
