View Full Version : Who has the greatest number of acts they want to see?

HandBanana

So I took all 3 days, winnowed out the acts that I either dont want to see or dont have enough info to judge and Im left with...

89 acts.

Eighty NINE

A number that will only grow as I get better acquainted with some of them and of course once the inevitable additions roll in.

Last year I had like 100-something.

Anyone beat my number?

Pro-Tip: Throw your list into an HTML editor that numbers the lines automatically to keep from having to count them yourself.

Less than 89 though, I'll give you that.

I'm at about 70. This is one of my favorite times of the year, researching new bands that I've never heard of.

Any suggestions?

I'm around thirty,
Which means fifty by April.
Conflicts will abound.

If you really want
To see eighty-nine plus bands,
You'll be unhappy.

I have around 50. I'm gonna have conflict disappointment for sure. Also because there are certain bands that get "Conflict Override" where I cut out acts in order to good spot near the front.

24...eight per day so far.

After closer observation, I must sadly declare that the undercard is disappointing. Of those undercard acts I want to see (so far), most I either like or am curious about, as opposed to love.

Clearly, I am not NEARLY as indie as any of you. If only I was more hip...

(haha, but props seriously if you've got wide enough taste and a large enough knowledge of modern music to be that overwhelmed. wish i could be that excited about so many acts.)

Right now I count 42.

My number is about 15 acts per day. Obviously, set times will prevent me from seeing everyone I want to see. I have 2 or 3 "must see regardless of conflicts" acts each day; the rest will be determined by stages/set times.

Knapptime
01-31-2009, 12:23 PM
I have a system of grading that goes:

Must See - Obviously must do anything to see them
Try To See - Try my best, or maybe I've already seen them and would watch something else if it conflicts
Maybe - Could do with or without
Buzz Band - They're apparently all the rage so if nothing better is on I'll see what the hype is about
Who Gives a Shit? - Self-explanatory

I've only researched Friday so far, but I have 3 "must sees" and 9 "try to see" acts. So 12 acts I'll make an effort to get to for Friday, conflicts permitting.

sacleonard
01-31-2009, 02:23 PM
Here is the breakdown for me by day (so far):
Friday = 16 (9 must-see acts)
Saturday = 10 (3 must-see acts)
Sunday = 7 (5 must-see acts)

It reminds me a lot of 2007.

My number has increased over the past couple days to 29. And here's my rating system, excluding "Undecided", for the sake of not getting too tl;dr, and "Fuck no", for the sake of being positive.

Must see:
Paul McCartney
Morrissey
Leonard Cohen
Amanda Palmer
The Cure
My Bloody Valentine
YYY's

Want to see:
Franz Ferdinand
Beirut
Girl Talk
Crystal Castles
Los Campesinos!
TV on the Radio
Fleet Foxes
Peter Bjorn and John
Public Enemy
Jenny Lewis
Lykke Li
Okkervil River

Want to check out:
Patton & Rahzel
A Place to Bury Strangers
Thievery Corporation
Band of Horses

Henry Rollins
Crookers
the Bloody Beetroots
Glass Candy
Gang Gang Dance

Add em up and see who has the most?

I started a thread like this a while back, but that was before we had the basically full lineup, so lets start clean.

Dont list them, dont rank them. Just count them.

Use one metric and one alone: do you have a postive desire, barring conflicts, to see the act? This is binary. Yes or No.

Add up your Yes's.

Right now Im at an even 90.

Wheres the beef?

This is like a contest to see who has the least discerning taste.

So, having a diverse and broad taste in music makes you less of a person? I've read a LOT of your posts, and this is the only one in my opinion that makes you a closed-minded, self-rightous, jackass. Otherwise, you're hella funny.

Thievery Corporation
Chemical Brothers (saw them Coachella 05)
TV on the Radio

i've only seen two of these performers beforehand...

my list isn't as big as some of yours, but honestly, i don't know if i'll be able to see all the bands i want to see as it is... this doesn't include either the dome or the do lab. i spent a lot of time in the lab last year, and plan on making friends with the dome this year too...

and there's still 25 days left to do some more research... and i always end up at a random show that knocks my socks off... without fail!
