Dude, assuming I make it out for the festival this year, that'll be one of my most-anticipated acts. That's fucking amazing. And I just got into the new DBT album this month, so it comes at the right time.

I imagine their tour with the Hold Steady helped those who weren't into them give them a good listen. That's how I became a fan (didn't go to the show, but just the association with HS was enough to make me realize I needed to listen to their music)

cant wait for booker t, cant imagine what they are gonna sound like with the drive by truckers but should be interesting to say the least.

btw - the whole "young people dont appreciate good older music" thing is getting old, even if most youngsters dont know shit there are still many out there who know whats up

You know the Hold Steady have an association with Counting Crows too, just saying.

I plan on checking out Booker T. at Coachella and Bonnaroo.

That being said, I wonder why he's not with the MG's? Steve Cropper is, hands-down, one of the greatest, and most underrated guitar players in rock history. Does anyone have any insight as to why DBT's are his backing band?

Edit: After using the Internetz, apparently Cropper does his thing with the Blues Brothers band.

Cropper worked with Frank Black on a couple albums recently, and while they weren't Frank's best, Steve was awesome on them.

Cropper was also awesome in Murph & The Magictones.

Hrm. True. But indie kids read about that in articles highlighting the likelihood that the Hold Steady will blow away the Counting Crows.

don't let him conflict with anybody EXCEPT Winehouse, HerculesLoveAffair, Bob Mould, MSTRKRFT, Glasvegas, Electric Touch or Thievery...

That movie is so damn good. Who knew Robert Downey Jr. was a member of the Jim Carrol band?

Could we possibly see Neil Young make a cameo?

With backing from the Drive-By Truckers (at left) and guitar contributions from Neil Young on nine of the album's ten tracks, Potato Hole is the rawest, funkiest music Booker T has recorded since his archetypal hit Green Onions. Booker T plays organ, acoustic and electric guitar on Potato Hole and wrote seven of the album's songs. Potato Hole was recorded last fall in Georgia and California and produced by Booker T and Rob Schnapf.

Ditto here!! There was another thread on this about Neil Young who has played with them on a recent cut. DBT was great at Outside Lands. This should be kick ass.

okay, we are not talking enough about Booker T on the board. This should be treated like much bigger deal than it is. The man is a legend.

probably, that's the only Booker T song that 99% of people at Coachella will be familiar with

I hope Neil makes an appearance but since he'll already be in concert the night before in Ontario, it'll be ambitious!
