Yeah I don't think they're doing anything right now.

The third Gorillaz album was supposed to be a soundtrack to an animated Gorillaz movie about all the characters. Supposedly the script should be near done this February, but not much has really been said about that film. And yeah, the obvious reason would be The Good, The Bad, and the Queen. I expect that to be the buzz for a while. Hopefully Graham Coxon has already been working with Blur, or is already considering it more than he has in the past. Blur is probably only 50% likely to start doing something this year.

Graham said he would consider doing a new Blur album if he was asked. As far as i am aware, he hasn't been. Plus, i very much doubt they'll have anything new to promote for at least a year. The best you can hope for is The Good, The Bad and The Queen.

I thought I heard a long time ago (about a year ago) that Gorillaz were going to do a huge tour in support of Demon Days in ***7 and were developing holograms of the characters to play on stage.

I think the more relevant part of this thread is that you folks seem to have intimidated someone into not asking a question. Mission accomplished.

The tour you are referring to happened already in 2006.

Gorillaz to Tour as Holograms in 2007
You know whos pissed right now? Jem and the Holograms. The 80s TV girl group will no longer be the universes foremost cartoon hologram rock band, come 2007. In that far-distant year, Gorillaz will launch an ambitious world tour featuring its animated members appearing on stage in 3D holographic format, the NME and other British news sources announced yesterday.

The genre-hopping brainchild of Blurs Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, Gorillaz previously toured as a live band performing behind a screen with images of singer/keyboardist 2D, bassist Murdoc, drummer Russel and guitarist Noodle projected onto it. By most accounts, that arrangement was an utter failure, leaving audiences bored and annoyed. But now, riding high on the success of their second album, Demon Days, and its iPod-pimping single Feel Good Inc, Gorillaz are stepping their game up into the third dimension. Its going to take a whole year to work out financial and creative technicalities, they havent figured out if live musicians will be involved or not, and no dates have been confirmed yet. A sneak peak performance of Feel Good Inc will take place in London in late October, and a Gorillaz feature film is rumored to be in the works. Gorillaz are truly outrageous!

I cant imagine spending much money for such an experience. They could make it into a ride at Disneyland, or for some hotel in Vegas.

The hologram thing didn't work out. They did that one TV gig (Grammys or MTV or something with Madonna) and I think one show in the UK.

They scrapped it and went with a full orchestra. They played for a week in NYC at the Apollo Theater. I went to the last show and sat in the second row. It was an amazing experience! Most of the artists from Demon Days were there (no Dennis Hopper on the night I went).

I also saw them on the first tour when they used a movie screen. That is probably more realistic for a festival, but still highly unlikely...would be nice though

I watched their live concert that was shot in NY on and was underwhelmed by the performance. The crowd even looked bored. Maybe it's something to experience first hand.

A Gorillaz concert would be so complicated to pull off at Coachella. A correct Gorillaz concert at least. They'd have to close the Sahara or Main Stage for over an hour just to set that beast up for action. I would much rather have Coachella fork money over to Blur.

Has anyone considered Damon Albarn's other other other project, Monkey: Journey to the West? They have shows scheduled in July in Berlin.

It would be a massive production but could be done.

Monkey is a musical.....like a broadway show with classic asian (chinese i think) music.... really weird...

and you're crazy if you think the first tour was bad......

the visuals were ridiculous........it was honestly life changing.
Gorillaz is a huge collaboration of artists and there really isn't a "band"....damon albarn writes the music.... i saw Demon Days (2nd album) performed in NY on a stage where the 30 person "band" was sitting playing every part......it was cool...... but nothing like the first show.....

CHECK THIS OUT... THIS IS FROM THE DVD.... BUT JUST IMAGINE WATCHING A GIANT SCREEN SURROUNDED BY STROBE LIGHTS WITH CRAZY GRAPHICS BEING PROJECTED ON IT. this is from london... when they came to North America, they changed it up so that the movies screen was above a white silhouette screen
