hit and miss really, but robot man, i am unknown, billy jack, boats - all good tunes.

their frontman was in the beta band when they started, co-wrote dry the rain, but went loopy and was sectioned for ten years...he did some solo stuff under the moniker of lone pigeon.

i'd give them a shot.

also, try king creosote, brother of aliens front man

I saw the Beta Band in Santa Barbara, I believe when they opened for Radiohead. They kind of sucked live.

singer was another nut case.

my friend's dad is a photogropher and did a photoshoot with him recently. turned up at his house to find him outside ready to greet him, next to a punchbag hanging from a tree. he started stripping off and proceeded to give him a lecture on how to kickbox outside in the freezing cold in just your shorts.

but check out his solo projects, king biscuit time (amazing) and black affair (actually, don't check that out, it's shit).

search "i walk the earth" on youtube. it's KBT's first single, and it's a beast.

The Aliens were my favorite band from LA Detour in 2007.
Would love to see them again. Would love Beta Band more, but Aliens are fun.

"I will now sell 5 copies of The Three E.P.s by The Beta Band"- John Cusak in High Fidelity.

That's my favorite part of that movie. I used to do that all the time working in music stores. I think I got Juno Reactor's Bible Of Dreams into my store's top 10 for about a month.

Saw Beta Band open up for Radiohead in Chicago. they were cool. Rob Gordon actually got me to buy five copies of The Three EP by playing "Dry The Rain" at his store Championship Vinyl on Milwaukee Ave.

they arent really that obscure.

And they've even played Coachella. They were really late, but rather good.

They were better a few weeks earlier in a small club. They were on time (ish) and had home movies projecting on the wall.

I feel like I saw Beta Band at the Roxy in New York maybe in 2001. It was a weird show: either in the middle of the day, or there weren't very many people there, or something. I wish my memory was better.

I've only heard of them through the movie "High Fidelity"

Three EPs is good, everything else isn't that great. Would be nice to hear "Dry The Rain" on the polo grounds, tho.
