People really need to clue in that U2 are partnered up with Live Nation for the next 12 years.

and yeah. this is another huge point...... unless theres some weird angle GV pulled that none of us know about theres no chance Live Nation would go through with it.

I've been preaching this up and down too. These days concerts bring in a massive amount of revenue for not only bands but the companies that hold contracts. No U2, no Madonna. Not for 12 years in both of their cases.

I'm sure if U2 wanted to play Coachella, they could, regardless of what their contract says....they can do what they want.

The current issue of Q Magazine dedicates 30 pages to U2. When asked about the tour, Bono said he couldn't disclose details but that what they are planning for the outdoor shows has never been done before and he called it a "feat of engineering."

They are very calculating about how they are portrayed and they are known for their over the top stage technology. Unless they can take this "feat of engineering" and duplicate it on Coachella's main stage, they won't play. They don't need to increase their fan base enough to warrant it.

They are replacing the DoLab with the U2 lemon this year. I read it when the lineup was announced 3 seconds ago.

Lol. You have to sign a liability waiver before stepping inside. Once they shut it you might not come out.

U2 are set to receive 1.56 million shares of Live Nation, worth roughly $19 million, as part of the 12-year touring contract the band signed with the concert giant earlier this year. The deal, which was signed in March, includes the bandís tours, merchandising and their official website.

From Oct. 9 to Dec. 7, Live Nationís stock has fallen about 43 percent, as the company grapples with defining its role as it prepares for life without Ticketmaster.

U2 sold the stock back to Live Nation at a contract guaranteed $25-million. Live Nation took a $19-million loss on that part of the deal
