So this could determine that The Killers might very well be at Coachella. But in no way will they be a headliner. They might be originally billed as a headliner but in no way will they headline. Looks like I'll be having fun in the Sahara regardless.

Tickets for the newly announced shows will go on sale beginning January 23rd.

Could that be related to the lineup release date in anyway? or maybe the presale date?

vegas is only like a 4 hr drive from indio...san jose though looks like they are getting a tired performance 4 days in a row seems tough, 3 days seems doable.

Why do people think a one day gap on a weekend is a sure sign that they will be there?

The Eagles Club???

01-16-2009, 10:58 AM
So if they are at Coachella, it is definitely on Saturday. This is wierd, cause most of us thought they would be the friday headliner. Maybe they are sub's??

Either way, like shotglass said, ill be somewhere else.

The Eagles Club???

that and they haven't played LA yet and this appears to be their west coast tour and since the killers would be billed pretty highly coachella wouldn't allow them to play LA before the fest so....all signs point to yes they are playing.

But the point of the headliner is to sell tickets. Red Hot Chili Peppers actually have a large and loyal fan base. They are a big enough band to headline Saturday. Saturday is no Friday. This is a completely new ball-game for rumors surrounding The Killers.

i dont think a band that headlines the staples center would be put as a subheadliner.

especially if they are keeping costs down. i know you all like your bands but do you not know how billing goes?

Just because a band headlines a show at the Staple Center does not mean that they can headline a major music festival. I know you like your bands but do you not know how billing goes?

I think people are forgetting that they still need to sell tickets. The Killers are playing on Saturday. Last year, Prince and Portishead and Kraftwerk led Saturday. Before that, Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have won seven Grammy awards did the deed. Before that, Depeche Mode, who have sold over 100 million albums worldwide paved the path. Before... A bit before that, you had Radiohead! The band that the board worships on that day.

Coachella might want to keep costs down, but if they're not looking to sell out the tickets this year, then next year they'll have to keep costs even more down, and so on, and so forth.

Good deal. I'm glad the Killers will probably play and I'm sure they'll put on an excellent show. Saw them in Portland a few years ago, at the Roseland, and it was pretty obvious that their show is BIG. The Roseland was a terrible place for them. Coachella will be just fine.

I'll take the Killers, a good pop band, over any of the can't play-can't sing-but look like hipsters crap that so often gets on main stage (Death Cab For Cutie, Weezer, etc...)

shotglass75
01-16-2009, 12:53 PM
But do you seriously think people would decide to come to Coachella because The Killers are headlining or even there? Maybe it's just me, but I really don't think a majority of the music festival crowds see a band like The Killers on the bill and say, "we gotta go to this festival now"

*edit*

maybe I just have a bad feeling about them because every time I have seen them live I have been underwhelmed. Their first 2 cd's were pretty good, 3rd one, blows. Just listened to Hot Fuss again but am I the only one who thinks that Brandon Flowers is one of the most boring frontmen out there?

Man, this band had to break up because of all the talk about how their lead singer was a rapist. He was never tried, or convicted but the lyrics will shock you on top of the accusations.

They had a reunion tour back in 2005 for some crap they do in Dallas every year, a street fest.. broke my heart I couldn't make it out there.

Finally another Glasto Veteran!!!!! I went last summer. I downloaded that Killers show from Glastonbury and was bored watching it. I could see how with the crowd and just the overall Glastonbury experience it being fun but I can't get over how boring they are live. A light show certainly can help but sometimes it takes more than just blinking lights and cool visuals to win over a crowd.

Honestly? I'm reserving judgment. I don't think he's lacking charisma but i'm not totally 100% sold on their live show just quite yet. I don't have anything to base it on except youtube and you're only really getting a slice of the experience. It helps that I'm a big big fan and have been for a long time. You remember me though, and what I said in the KOL thread that one time about checking them out cuz I thought they were cute (and you then banned me :p). The same thing kind of applies here, I like his stage movements and the gold suit he wore at Glasto is enough to keep me happy. If they suck in April, i'll be the first one to admit it

I saw them in Phoenix in 07 & thought they put on a good show.
I do not quite understand all the hate people have for them....

I think my problem with them is they are a pretty decent band on album (minus the new one) and I am always bored with their live shows. For liking some of their songs, I shouldn't be bored. I never felt I got my dollars worth when seeing them live. There should be more of a connection between band and audience and I have never seen or felt it.

I have to admit that I like "Joyride". That's a great song.

I feel we can be friends. Tell me, does it make you wanna shake your maracas?

and "Rebellion (lies)" is NOT a great song. Just sayin'
