maybe these people have something worked out with the coachella ticket people. Cuz they have like over 2000 positive transactions with like a 98% positive feedback rating. I use ebay a lot, they look legit. Its weird but....

They list em and then just buy the tickets when they go onsale to fulfil the order. As long as they have them to ship it isn't a problem. If people are stupid enough to buy them then they deserve to pay a stupid tax.

are the tickets that hard to get hold of? or are people just trying to scam?

faxman75
01-09-2009, 05:56 AM
It's not a scam at all. it's just that they are scalping tickets and asking for more than what they are worth. There is nothing illegal about it at all, it's just a dick move to ask for more than they are worth from the get go. I think if bidding causes a ticket to go higher than it's worth, then that's fine but when you are asking for more than they are worth before an onsale date is even announced then it's just a dick move.

I'm going to try and not debate scalping in genral because I agree with the laws of each state and ebay as far as auctioning/selling tickets goes. Some idiot is not gonna have a clue about when tickets go on sale and just buy them. I don't have much sympathy for buyers though, they want to pay the price, so let em' I guess. I have no issues with scalping. I don't find them to be disgusting or bottom feeders. I am not so high and mighty that I think the way I make a living is better. The fact is they have tickets to sell. Sometimes they get stuck with a bunch and you can see a show for under face value, sometimes the show is in high demand and the scalper can get 4X the face value. We've had this debate a gazillion times though.

You can't really scam on ebay. I mean you can but you can't do it more than a couple times before your banned and ruin your whole account. This guy is a pro scalper and legit minus a few negative feedbacks but when you have a feedback system in place it helps. If some douche on craigslist says send me money I have tickets, then you have something to worry about. There isn't much recourse there, even if you use paypal you are gonna have a lot to prove despite the fact that most everyone seems to think paypal is going to protect everyone.

Ebay told me it was illegal fax. If they cancel them or not who knows.

faxman75
01-09-2009, 07:31 AM
Right on, what part was illegal? Selling before product was in hand or pricing higher than they are worth? Just curious if they said.

All Your Base
01-09-2009, 07:36 AM
Yeah I mean the listing says FedEx guaranteed delivery by April 15th, so whoever this is is just selling something for a higher price. Once the tickets go on sale, this person will buy up as many as he has orders for and there you go.

The 10% thing to the Indio Police whatever-it-is seems like an especially douchey move to me though - not because it's to the police but because he's doing it to lend credibility to the sale.

Not going to happen - not this year anyways - people are pulling back their spending.

Actually, the slowing economy could mean GV would try to make more money per ticket since they know ticket sales will be off so I could definitely see them jacking the price up even more this year.
